Re: Electric cars
I read the comments and I agree that something isn't quite right with this.

Re: Electric cars
Today we were leaving a carpark, an EV arrived and parked beside us.
I chatted to the driver about her car, she loves it.
We drove to another carpark about 10 mins away for late lunch for over an hour.
While leaving there another EV pulled up beside us. There are more of them on the road every day .
Both cars were BYD models, make a funny 'soft' whirring noise at slow speeds.

The Democrats will have even more control over the tree huggers when they trade their gasoline automobiles in for an EV. That's exactly what they want, complete control and complete dependence upon the utilities and the government.

Re: Electric cars
............. The new edition of the IEA’s annual Global Electric Vehicle Outlook shows that more than 10 million electric cars were sold worldwide in 2022 and that sales are expected to grow by another 35% this year to reach 14 million.
This explosive growth means electric cars’ share of the overall car market has risen from around 4% in 2020 to 14% in 2022 and is set to increase further to 18% this year, based on the latest IEA projections.
“Electric vehicles are one of the driving forces in the new global energy economy that is rapidly emerging – and they are bringing about a historic transformation of the car manufacturing industry worldwide,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol. “The trends we are witnessing have significant implications for global oil demand. The internal combustion engine has gone unrivalled for over a century, but electric vehicles are changing the status quo. By 2030, they will avoid the need for at least 5 million barrels a day of oil. Cars are just the first wave: electric buses and trucks will follow soon.” ................
https://www.iea.org/news/demand-for-electric-cars-is-booming-with-sales-expected-to-leap-35-this-year-after-a-record-breaking-2022
And every new EV sold is a customer lost for petrol forever.
Will the price of 2nd hand cars decline?

This is quite false. Do you think electricity is a gift from the heavens?
Solar generation may be , but it will only power a fraction of the energy needed.
All electric vehicles do is give the perception of clean energy.
All the energy consumption(petrol) and pollution is simply transferred to the electric generation station(power plant).
There is no net decline .
The grid is already at capacity. It will never support any appreciable amount of EV transportation.

Re: Electric cars
It takes large amounts of fossil fuels(mostly coal) to manufacture solar panels in china. China has no qualms about using fossil fuels.
Also many toxic. rare earth minerals and metals, including mercury, are used in the manufacturing process.
Given an average life span of 10-15 years before replacement, and the fact there are no solar panel recycle or abatement sites in the states, the result is going to be bad for the environment.
There are collection sites in the states, for panels, that used to bundle them and ship the waste back to china.
China has refused to accept shiploads of American wastes.
Maybe things have changed.
But not doesn't change the fact that expensive, grid, solar energy is dangerous to the environment in terms of wastes and initial sourcing(strip/open pit mining).
Only independent, single home, solar generation is feasible.
But corporate electric companies and the government, regulating agencies and politicians that take their dirty money will only allow a token amount.
The green deal is a complete farce.
One of the greatest, global, elite-enriching schemes ever perpetrated on mankind.
Funded by taxpayers globally.
Mostly American taxpayers.

Re: Electric cars
Plenty of battery-car buyers have traded back.
And few owners have JUST the battery go-cart. In many cases it's simply a posing tool. For actual travel, distances or against a deadline or time frame, the SUV comes out of hiding.

It's simple as this to me with American hybrids.Casey Jones wrote:Plenty of battery-car buyers have traded back.

If the alternator can't recharge the batteries on a half tank of gasoline , it's not worth it .
The scenerio:
Start out electric. Get X amount of miles.
Switch to gasoline . Get X amount of miles and fully recharge batteries.
When batteries are fully charged, switch to electric again.
Then finish with remaining fuel. Leaving a full electric charge for emergencies, or extended fuel ups.
There's no net loss and petrol powers your renewables .
Can you fathom this brother @Sprintcyclist ?
Are just run with the narrative?

Re: Electric cars
In other words, a hybrid.
Those scared me for the complexity; but 20-plus years later they're doing okay. Depending on the brand, of course. The maintenance guy here has a Ford Fiesta (I think) hybrid, which is capable of doing short hops on battery power. Makes SENSE.
He can't plug it in here, but at home (he lives elsewhere) he could, to go further on his gas. But HE HAS that option.
I don't trust Fords, but he's satisfied with his. A Toyota would be okay, too. Just wire a home charger onto it.
But that's not what the Woketards are clamoring for. And it's not what the Globalists want, either - they want us TIED TO OUR FIFTEEN MINUTE CITIES.
