It's an awesome car and so so quiet.
Can he charge it for free at work! ?
Can he charge it at home on ( I don't think y'all have 110) 220v and if so, what does that cost?
I'm just curious.
He doesn't charge it at all.
Hybrid cars use petrol/gas to start the engine then switch to electric. Regenerative braking keeps the battery charged all the time it's running. It doesn't get plugged in at all.
Best of both worlds and saves a heap on fuel.
I thought you'd know this Hawk!

I'd never buy an EV but I'd certainly consider buying a Hybrid.
Having said that, I can't believe how many Teslas I see on the road every day. I don't normally look at particular makes and models of other cars on the road while I'm driving around but once they were pointed out to me I see many of them everywhere.

I did some research into hybrids vs plugin hybrids vs full electric a few months ago.
They are all quite different.
Normal hybrids have a small electric battery. It powers the car at low speeds only, up to 20km/h and will only drive the car on the battery for 5 kms. (rough figures)
They are designed to use battery at low speeds to get the car up to a speed where the petrol engine takes over.
The petrol engine or braking recharges the battery. It never is plugged into mains power.
The vehicle seamlessly swops between petrol and electic with no input or knowledge from the driver.
Advantage is at low speeds the petrol is VERY inefficient, electric is used for this area where electric is VERY efficient.
It'll drop petrol usage by about 50%.
Has no benefit on freeway driving. On a freeway petrol is reasonably efficient.

Re: Electric cars
A plug in hybrid has a larger battery, is not speed limited on electric and had a electric range of 60 kms.
The battery will run flat THEN the petrol engine is used.
The battery is not charged by the engine or by braking. It is only charged by plugging it in.
If your driving is only local you may well only used electric for all your driving.

We have different types of hybrids. Some let you switch off the engine to run as an EV on short trips. You can recharge it at home to save on fuel costs. We call it a "plug in hybrid ".

Ya can't get your money back.Calypso Jones wrote:We sorta made that mistake with an electric vehicle It's a glorified golf cart is what it is. It is frightening to drive on the road as far as i'm concerned. It's small and not as fast as they say they are. PLUS..the taxes and registration and tags are more expensive than a regular gas powered car though the elites will change that in time.
I'd like to get rid of the thing but who is stupid enough to buy it now.......oh...wait. I' may shine that thing up and put it online.
But you can make that POS pay.
What ya do...first, is put the FOR SALE sign on it...online, whatever. For a truly fair price. Because what fool will buy it, can have it.
MEANTIME...use it. GROCERY RUNS. Short hops.
THIS is why. Starting a gas or diesel-powered car/truck...cold...adds the wear of about 250 miles, just in starting it.
Starting a battery buggy...causes NO wear.
Short hop? Use the Goremobile.
Long trip? Use the road machine.
You can save a LOT on the wear of your "useful" rig by using your unwanted batterymobile, for the silly needs.
I have actually considered a golf cart for such things. But, really, I have a motorcycle for it.

It's a "vehicle" to limit the reach of travel, keep you home where you can be monitored and tracked, make travel cost prohibitive, and enrich elite politicians and shysters like Al Gore.
Great comment! It is why Biden has stopped so many fossil fuels, to make gasoline more expensive, help his 'pals' in China and push electric vehicles. The electric grid won't support it and there are many cons to EV's but, then Biden isn't the smartest crayon in the box, he just wants more money.

I have no problem with people buying whatever they want as long as they can afford it. What I do have a problem with is the government telling people what they should/can buy to be 'climate responsible'. The nonsense of the government with the MSM's help, pushing certain things on us is CRAP.
