So I buy only seeded ones.

Technically seedless watermelons are supposed to be tastier because they have 3 genes instead of 2 and that is supposed to 'express' the flavor more. They are not genetically modified they are cross bred.

Too much fruit is tasteless now though and I think that is because they use ripening agents instead of letting the fruit mature naturally.

My view is that its more to do with cropping volumes , Tons per hectare

Interesting, re: the melons. I haven't bought one in years, but, IIRC, they were much paler in color than the ones w/seeds.

Your assessment of flavorless fruit in general goes along w/what I've suspected.

I got a bunch of hollytone. Have a magnolia i'm gonna feed with it. What else can i do with it? It makes soil acidic. Pines need acid, hollies, not boxwood. I love sweet shrub. Do you know that @HawkTheSlayer?
