Re: Random thoughts about the Royals, here and there
billy the kid wrote:$200 million or more for security for the turds coronation....
Imagine how that could be spent...
And thats just for security...the mind boggles at the exorbitant waste...
I can't believe that figure . Even a 3 day event wouldn't cost a million dollars.

There's a lot of figures being throw around out there. This article says approx. $125 Million:HawkTheSlayer wrote:billy the kid wrote:$200 million or more for security for the turds coronation....

https://time.com/6275383/king-charles-iii-coronation-cost-taxpayers/Britain is still reeling from a cost-of-living crisis, though you wouldn’t necessarily know it from its plans for King Charles III’s upcoming May 6 coronation. The country is pulling out all the stops for the crowning of its sovereign—a three-day jamboree that will feature nationwide street parties, a Windsor concert, and a symbolic ceremony at Westminster Abbey followed by a grand public procession. It’ll be a party fit for a king, with a price tag to match: The long weekend is expected to cost British taxpayers at least £100 million ($125 million).

[quote]King Charles' coronation is set to cost around £250 million as a huge security operation will be underway at the historic ceremony. Around £150 million of the total will be required to fund the deployment of police officers and protection squads, while the remaining costs will be given for staging the ceremony and three days of celebrations, several reports claimed.
Apparently, security is the biggest cost. How sad, when you think about it. It's said that Charles asked for a scale back.

Well, take comfort.
It's probably the last one. The sun has set on the British Empire, and that doddering old fool is almost as bad as our own Corn Pop.

The British people are being encouraged to swear allegiance to the new king. IN the past it claims only the nobility did this and those taking office. Why this now?

Because Bonny Prince Charlie is a mental midget, afraid the people will turn on him.
They won't turn on him. They never were WITH him - he's a clown, and they know it. He's afraid, with the Global Economic Collapse, with the moose-sliming of the British population (the most-popular male name for newborns is "Mohammed" every year for years, now) and general restiveness...he's going to go the way of other kings named Charles.
It's well that he's afraid. It's probably one of the few things he fears that might actually come to pass.

Now gee, where have we heard that before?Graham Smith, a spokesman for Republic, which campaigns for the abolition of the British monarchy, said: "In a democracy it is the head of state who should be swearing allegiance to the people, not the other way around."
Where do Aussies stand, when it comes to pledging allegiance to the Monarchy? Not, where do they stand, personally. More, are Aussies still subjects of the throne?

Britain is a constitutional monarchy...Not a democracy. These people today don't know what democracy means and the left likes it just fine like that.

Re: Random thoughts about the Royals, here and there
Australia is a Constitutional Monarchy but the King/Queen is only a symbolic role. They have no say in day to day politics.
Most Aussies couldn't give a hoot about the Royal Family but are reluctant to change to a Republic because a President is a darn lot harder to get rid of than a Prime Minister is.
