This is not news....
15 years ago strawberry pickers were renowned for attempting to
sell fruit that they had been given instead of wages...
This is how bad things are in Oz....
They need a jobs summit to work out what to do....
The government is telling us that the plan is for pensioners
to go back to work and that the pension wont be effected
by any wages....I see....they'll still have to pay tax on their
wages combined with their pension...and that, to me, suggests
that the whole idea is crap....
And they want to up skill migrants...
I see...
This grubberments got nothing.....
Absolutely nothing....
They are even talking about getting pensioners to pick veges ........
Yep... be dead in a week
We couldnt run a grape vine over a shithouse.....

Non union hands make the same or more than lazy, union hands and don't have scarce union jobs meted out to them for just a few months out of the year. A good tradesman will never have trouble finding work.
Especially if you're willing to travel the country and work shutdowns/turnarounds and work 80 hour weeks. It's a heap of money!!

Auto mechanics, HVAC, plumbers all charge $100/hour.

I imagine wages are much higher in Oz as it seems the cost of living is comparable to living in large American cities on the east and west coasts.

So it's hard for me to gauge if $40/hour is good money in Oz are just average pay.

The cost of living is pretty low in Louisiana. Even less in Mississippi.

An electrician I know started on $40 an hour last week , he also gets a van he can take home , I'm on $45 an hour, plus 8% holiday and 3% superannuation loading, My perks are I don't have to work the hours I'm paid,  average day 7 to 7.5 hours paid for 8 , And only working 3 days a week. It works for me at this point, And I spend a couple of hours a day on the net

Time and a half is mandatory pay for any work over 40 hours. I worked for a few years for one of the last 2 companies that paid welders and fitters double time.
As far as I know, no one in industrial contract business pays double time any more.

But it works out the same or better..

Ten years ago, fitter pay was about $26/hour and 52 for overtime. $2 /hour more with NCEER.
Today , pay is $38-$40/hour and 1 1/2.

https://www.zerohedge.com/military/killer-robo-subs-fast-tracked-plug-capability-gap
Anduril has 100 million dollar contract with Oz Navy...
Not sure if the robo subs will be built in Oz....
We cant build anything...
Aaah well...Anduril is an American company based in Irvine, California...
It has a branch office in Sydney....
I wonder if we will donate the subs to Ukraine...
Might as well....
Even though Ukraine is not a NATO country....
And neither are we...
But I digress....

I could get a better hourly rate with the company, a couple of reasons I don't, The Doris would get half of anything I saved and the company would start expecting me to work harder, The other staff in the company resent the easy life I get, But I've never been one to worry about what others think, lol

There is something seriously wrong with his country when businesses
everywhere are wanting pensioners and backpackers to fill jobs....
All because no-one else wants to work....
I think sometimes about Maslows pyramid of needs...
If people cant provide food, shelter, clothing (bottom tier of pyramid)
then what hope do they have of climbing to another tier....
ZERO....
The nation shouldnt be depending on pensioners and backpackers
to fill jobs...
And in four weeks the cost of petrol goes up..even though oil
is selling for less than 100 bucks a barrel....
Figure that one out....

I see Herr Andrews has announced that various uni courses for
nurses and midwives will be free from next year....apparently
(well according to the media whores) this is to assist with the
current skills shortage in Oz.....
Ummmm....wrong....
This is a political ploy to gain votes...
Besides... whores...the course wont be concluded for some
years...
How does this assist a skills shortage which exists TODAY....
Watch the dumb brainwashed australians swallow this hook line
and sinker...
Ill bet my left testicle that the Andrews government is returned
to power at the next election...
Sheep have short memories....
They have forgotten all about the wu flu stalag victoria
that Andrews and his leeches created....
Baa baa....

""see Herr Andrews has announced that various uni courses for

I have no issue with that, as long as they are contracted to stay in Australia for a period after they graduate
