Our 6 pack holders are cardboard so they break down naturally but I DO prise off those tamper resistent bands on plastic bottles and jars and cut them with scissors to help save animal and marine life. I also flatten ALL cans so that animals cannot stick their heads into them.

I don't care what Pelosi does and would never consider her any sort of role model. I recycle because it's the right thing to do. In my mind, what can be recyled should be and what cannot be recycled should be manufactured using different materials.

You're correct that certain plastics do deteriorate out in the weather but they never fully decompose. Huge difference. This means that ALL plastic ever made is still present in the environment in some toxic form or another. That's just a fact.

Bottles too, if the fire is hot and lots of coals.
Nothing like watching a beer bottle slowly melt on a cold night with a beer buzz.

I saw that happen to a 12 oz Pabst Tall Neck in the 70s after a few tokes of Hawaiian gold and it was on the patio table ! Lol
LOL.  And I gotta admit, you surprised me.

Its always the quiet ones

Can repurpose some wood a neighbour is throwing out.
Am planning on making some drawers to store stuff in downstairs.
Saw some scrap wood in their skip the other day, left a letter in their letter box asking if I can take some.
It is always better to ask.

I'm amazed the stuff people throw out. Some friends are moving close to us. The Captain is helping them. So far i've gotten metal tables, garden tools, rugs to go in garage..i mean a big one. like 12X15, a whole bag of change!!! They just throw this stuff out with no thought of what they're doing. So Captain was going to take it to dump and i see the carpet and the tables and i say...hold on a minute. I go through it and...ramps for the shed, flower pots. I picked out what i could use, put it away....bagged the rest for garbage or mercy house and then called GHQ to come get some of it. She took the rest. what amounted to 2 rugs for her garden house..a wood rolling table for her canning room, valances and particle board table tops. All done. and i'm getting a donation receipt from mercy house. Repurposing Stuff - Page 7 452754053

I wish i could but i have to go to West Virginia or florida to get my 190 proof shine and then i cook it to make my own. got a new recipe for another flavor. Butterscotch. can't wait to do that one. I"d send you some but i'd get put in jail for sending it through the mail...wouldn't I? I did find out that when they ask if you have anything perishable or hazardous and you say, yes...they don't do a damn thing.

Yup , there's no such thing as garbage wood . Its all reusable and you can always use old scrap to make something new about it .
Let me take this time to apologise for those past insults I've thrown at you - everyone's opinion is as valuable as the next and I was abusive with mine . I owe you a beer .

It can get pretty small though.
My pop gets a lot of small , unusable pieces in the wood shop. He doesnt waste anything . No one born in 1931 wastes anything.

He throws those small pieces in a hundred pack sack on a mounted rack.

It's just so much sometimes. We can't use it all.

Nothing burns hotter than small pieces of cypress or cedar. If a cypress, shotgun house caught fire here, it burned so hot , it could set the whole neighborhood on fire.

But I've saved 4 of those sacks so far for fire starters.

I like to get my money's worth..the Captain is not as frugal as i, he's wasteful in my opinion...but my toothpaste...yes we use different tooth pastes..he likes one brand, i am not so picky.    I make sure i get Virtually ALL of the product out of the tube.   often i continue to use it for an additional nearly two weeks.  THAT is how much product is left in the container if you are not careful.

Why can't boys do these things too?  Lol

I hear ya with the toothpaste.  My sons are so wasteful with toothpaste.  I can get two more weeks out of what they throw out.
