And when the oil burns, everybody thinks you're cooking poke chops, or chicken.HawkTheSlayer wrote:It's not girly stuff!
I repurpose stuff all the time.
I prolly have 200 TP rollers in a box. Use them for planting seeds, instead of peat cups. Make 4 cuts on one end, fold them over to interlock , turn rightside up, fill with potting soil, and plant seeds.
I hang plastic, grocery bags on my kitchen drawers for garbage. Just make sure they have no holes, or double them up.
I used to save spent cooking oil. I'd put it in kerosene lanterns. Burns about the same as kerosene but not as clean as today's lamp oil.
Great for burning outside during the night at the camp or on the porch.
Old lawn mower and tractor oil is used as fire starter on large piles of limbs in the field.
All my glasses are pint and quart mason jars!
I have so many from canning. Lol
I catch rainwater for my plants on the deck.
I boil shrimp heads and shells and make stock.

Old toothbrushes make great mustache combs if you have a wild, handlebar mustache..
Old closely spaced bristled, hairbrushes make great pet hairbrushes.

Re: Repurposing Stuff
I quit buying paper filters for my small shop-vac I use around the house. Instead, I use 2 or three layers of old sheets cut to fit. Then I slip the foam filter over that.

Re: Repurposing Stuff
When we were kids, sliced bread came in cellophane packages. Then they started using the familiar bread bags you see today.
My mom would always save those for us when we went squirrel hunting. Put the dead tree rats in the bag, first. Then in the back of your hunting vest.
That way she didn't have to put the bloody hunting vests in her clean washing machine.

Re: Repurposing Stuff
Cut the bottom third off of a 2 liter bottle and they make great gumbo or soup/rice & gravy bowls. The tops make good funnels.

I cut up the captain's 100% cotton tees for rags. Of course...he's done with them ....in my opinion.

lol C'mon, Hawk, you know you're pushing it, when it comes to using 'saving Wally World bags' as an example. That one's so common that people don't as IF you have a spare bag, they ask WHERE they are.HawkTheSlayer wrote:It's not girly stuff!

I did, however, like your idea of using TP rolls for seed starters. Now that's an honest to Pete moss real repurposing.
