Re: Garden 2021
So that's what those strange lookin' things are? Assassin bugs? FWIW, outside of staring for a moment, I leave them be.
If they kill bad guys, I'll continue that way. But if they kill good guys, (sounds improbable), I'll slap the snot out of 'em.

Re: Garden 2021
They give me the creeps. I killed one this morning. I may leave them alone after that. I NEVER saw one of those things till a couple years ago.

Those archaic looking things creep me out, too. I just don't want to kill 'em if they're helpers.
The chances of that are ...?
EDIT: As it turns out, very good.

https://www.bobvila.com/articles/assassin-bugs/Assassin bugs of the Reduviidae family are also sometimes familiarly referred to as kissing bugs—and for their prey, it’s the kiss of death! They devour the likes of destructive aphids, leafhoppers, and caterpillars, and can even consume insects larger than themselves. What’s more, kissing bugs actively hunt their prey, patrolling trees, bushes, and other vegetation for victims. No wonder experienced gardeners view them as friends, especially those who take a natural approach and like to limit their use of pesticides.

Re: Garden 2021
Hellebores....sorta been experimenting where to place them....shoulda checked internet before now. Are you familiar with this plant?? very odd...have quite a story behind them...associated with witchcraft. naturally. Mine don't have that blue vein but they're still weird looking. I'll show you others that are strange but still quite pretty. It reminds you of something evil disguised in beauty...like Lucifer. toxic to dog cats horses but it tastes so bad that they don't bother it.

hellebores folklore.
If it could be made into a liquer, Pelousi would drink it and not have any ill effects.

Good. Then we both are. Headed to town a few back and was surprised to see all the sumac already bright red. Oak and Elm leaves are already dropping, too.Calypso Jones wrote:I said this last month talking to ghq. Early fall.

It's a gloriously cool day. Went out early to water the flowers, swept the patios, then hauled off a wheelbarrow full of branches and twigs. Crap, had to quit. Hip was screaming.
