I just shred my squash and then make the basic. egg, milk, vanilla, cinnamon/opt, dash of salt always helps and sweetener. I had this girlfriend of many years.. We had such fun, going on trips the 4 of us. Laughing...i mean hysterical laughing. Well. she got mad at me for questioning HER support of Obama after she had burned me for eight long years on that jazzack GWB. SHE. WENT. BAllistic. And that was the end of our friendship. her doing. not mine. yes she was a liberal...and became a touchy one at that. Don't cross a lib, but they can do that to you and you're expected to laugh and shut up.

Funny, no milk in my zucchini bread recipe:
3 Cups shredded zucchini (2-3 medium)
2 2/3 Cups sugar
2/3 Cups shortening
2/3 Cup water
4 eggs
3 1/3 Cups all-purpose flour *
2 Tsps. baking soda
1 1/2 tsps salt
1 Tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsps. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 Cups coarsely chopped nuts
2/3 Cups raisins.

Sorry to hear your friend wasn't nearly as strong as one as you'd thought her to be. Sounds like the two of you were quite close, so it's not hard to see how much much that one hurt.

:thumbsup2: I like going half 'n half with pure cane and brown. Adds a bit of the titch to it, you might say.

Drawback: We didn't grow any zucchini this year.

I like to grow a couple of zucchini, they produce for a long time if you continue to harvest them

My garden looks awesome.... but not the vegetables. I have been watering them several times a day lately. I know...i should only do it in the evening but they are suffering. It seems the ground is so dry that it won't absorb the water. I water...check the soil and it's only wet on the top. WEIRD. It rained a little last nite so they're not looking quite as bad. I checked on them a few minutes ago and it started raining while i was doing a little weeding. Pray we get a long gentle rain so it has time to sink in.

even the weeds are shirivelling. When i pull them out i expect them to be in cemented dirt. but they aren't....they pull out so easily.

Spring gardens are finishing up here. Too hot now . 95 every day. Next month will be time to plant a fall garden of cukes, maters., squash, etc.

Sept/Oct will be green planting time.
Collards, mustard greens, turnips, tendergreens, spinach, kolrabi, all and all soul food greens.

I got all my mother-in-law's recipes when she died, among them, zucchini bread.

Now, this may sound strange but, that recipe, just looking at it, brings back lots of memories, my MIL made that zucchini bread all the time, she always had a couple loaves when we'd visit, I can still remember the smell and taste of it.

I've made it, using her recipe but, for some reason it didn't come out the same.
