Re: Random Thoughts about Commercials
Not in this lifetime. EXCEPT, I do wash towels, sheets, and 'delicates', (of course), in cold, and on the gentle cycle.Calypso Jones wrote:ThAT was cute. BUT
i'll be damned if i'll wash my clothes in cold.
I don't like Tide, anyway, and I really don't like those laundry pods. Not every wash is a machine full, so that makes it impossible to adjust. Besides, I still make my own laundry detergent.

Re: Random Thoughts about Commercials
Speaking of annoying, ridiculous ads, how about those ones that have the 'star' of some show sitting there explaining the various characters for their audiences?
The absolute winner for 'WORST' has got to be the loser from "Private Eyes." But then, the show is a loser, so I guess that explains it.
She positively babbles.
Yes, I've watched it a few times. Probably more episodes than I should admit. I never saw a "browner" bunch of characters as gathered in that one show.
**By "brown," I refer to their personalities. As dull as the color of a paper sack. Jason Priestly, (I finally learned his name), adds a little color to it, but not enough.
Still, point was, watching actors with this need to spell it all out for you, as if the viewers couldn't catch on all by their potato head selves.
Maybe they're made to do it, and feel dumb doing so?

So many commercials Right now that seem to me to be subtly intending to change our thinking about doing with less. It's that Levi's commercial. Have you seen it? It rather angers me. And I don't like the actors.

Saw it, but was only paying half attention, as I'm no fan of Levi's. At the end, though, all I could think was "That's what used to be sold as "quality," ya nitwits."Calypso Jones wrote:So many commercials Right now that seem to me to be subtly intending to change our thinking about doing with less. Next time I'll pay closer attention, perhaps see what I missed in the translation.

and they're boring. I have found, or rather it is my opinion, that when writers write...they are not putting in all those little psychoanalytical thingies that professors try to tell us are there and so so so intellectual. bull. they are writing and because they are human...their human- ness comes through.
Writers today have to include their little 'easter eggs' cause otherwise no one would be interested long term. It give the piece something else for small minds to grasp other than the integrity of the piece itself.

Now I remember what was so irritating. Thanks. Yeah, the moral superiority when - back in the day - businesses didn't mind bragging on their quality - IF they could actually make that claim, that is. Maybe the use of shallow platitudes is their way of getting around making what would be a very false claim.Calypso Jones wrote:2cent wrote:Saw it, but was only paying half attention, as I'm no fan of Levi's. Shame, too, 'cuz Levi's were once known for their quality. They had a big plant here, where the folks who worked for them put pride in their work. Then Levi's burned them bad by jumping ship to Mexico at the drop of a hat, leaving hundreds of people devastated. Early 90's, IIRC.
And that's when Levi's went to the dogs. Which is what they deserve for being so stupid as to think they could keep the brand, but not the good workers. Fools.[/i][/i]

Re: Random Thoughts about Commercials
So i said i'm on Roku and i'm being hit with mostly statewide commercials that are actually PSAs of the demo'rat wishlist.
Virginia homes. This is The Dem plan left over from obama/biden where they infiltrate neighborhoods and change them, AND lower property values, by placing indigent, alien, low cost multiunit housing in YOUR neighborhood. And it talks about jobs in the area, schools, shopping, meaning each area is 'self sufficient' and no need for the resident riffraff to go out of the area...you won't be able to anyway seeing as you're not gonna be able to afford the gas or the car. And it's portrayed as so bright and sunny and happy and it won't be any of those. It will be dirty and unkempt and smelly and riddled with crime and filth.

Poor you. Hopefully, you'll be able to stall them long enough to get to the next admin, and get out of that spoil and plunder. (But I think you meant leftover from 0zer0 admin.?)
All we get via ant. is being told over and over - in every form imaginable - to get the "very safe and effective" shot. But if you have any questions, contact them or the CDC.
lol
