The point is: we could rewrite the OT and make it much more intelligible and just a lot better. Of course, that would make it all less accessible to people, but then isn't that the point?

it was never my interest to reinterpret historical text. to rewrite it would devulve upon who gave you the right to do so. but certainly we no longer are in a acceptable society that caters to selling quilts for foreign exchange and barter for everything else. were does the degradation end and normalicy begin?

Let me guess; you've never read, The Lord of the Rings. Either that, or your lack of comprehension is at 100%.RV wrote:Right, JRR Tolkien was a 'christian' and Unicorns are real, Fairydust is real, the moon is made of Green cheese and Daffy Duck is running for President...
I guess Witches, Warlocks, Satanists and those who deny Christ in the mind of some can still be a 'christian'! If anyone wants to compare what the Bible says with JRR Tolkien books, they would very clearly see that she is anything BUT, a follower of Christ.

You are free to have whatever opinion you want, it makes no difference to me.
Re: JRR Tolkien was a devout Catholic Christian.
Whether or not someone has read a book, is not a matter of opinion; it is a matter of fact. Attempting to claim that you have read a book, when you haven't, however, ...makes a person a liar, if that's the case.RV wrote:2cent wrote:Let me guess; you've never read, The Lord of the Rings. So, have you read, Lord of the Rings, or not?

First off, my comment made no mention WHATSOEVER on whether I had 'read' the Lord of the Rings. You can accuse me of whatever you wish, it does not make it fact, true nor right. It says more about you than me. Secondly, whether I've read the book or not is really none of your concern. The fact that you are obsessed with whether I had done what you obviously did, again says more about you than me.
Does one have to step in feces to know that they are? Does one have to step in gum to know that it should be avoided? Does one have to shoplift to know that stealing is wrong? Just because you have spent time reading trash does not mean that others should too.
Re: JRR Tolkien was a devout Catholic Christian.
why yes, yes they do. city boy. i can walk all over cow shit all day long and after i kick my boots at the bottom stairs, walk right in the parlor without so much as a downward glance. i can also walk all over cow shit in the moon light and feel the earth slipping away from lifes reality, only later realizing the cow pies were fresh. not one hour fresh, but four or five, looking like someone sauntering on a freshly poured concrete sidewalk and then having the lime severely burning my toes and arches through my tenys. if you cant fathom the severity of your actions, you havnt a clue to the reality of their ramifications.RV wrote:2cent wrote:Whether or not someone has read a book, is not a matter of opinion; it is a matter of fact. Re: JRR Tolkien was a devout Catholic Christian.
Most people enjoy a little fantasy in their lives and there's nothing wrong with that. I like the LOTR movies but haven't read the books.
BTW JRR Tolkien was a HE (for those who keep referring to him as a she).

With all the emphasis on pronouns these days, does it really matter? He, She, It, Binary, Non-Binary, Breeding, Non-Breeding, etc,
Many people have gone through the procedures and expense of getting tattoos and piercings also, I haven't and won't.
