If I even see a little dot that might be mold.............it's gone.....Lummy wrote:Should you eat moldy bread?
No, according to the internet. Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ro8sPOgCBg
So what have I done? I just finished eating the last of several sweet muffins that had a layer of mold on them. I didn't remove the mold.
I'm still here ... sorry ...
Mold.....ewwwwwwwww!

When we lived in Italy, my friend and I went to a tiny bakery early in the morning. They had a flat salty bread that was delicious. We ate that and walked down to the bar for cappuccino.HawkTheSlayer wrote:Daily Bread wrote:Give it to a Democrat
You want a stale or day old crusty bread to make French Toast.
Years ago, homemade bread, especially French bread or Mish bread like they baked here didn't stay fresh for long. It soaks the egg in better.
After a day or two, the loaves or left over partial loaves, were refered to as Pain Perdu( pronounced pan perdu) or lost bread. Hence, French Toast is called Pain Perdu in southern Louisiana.
Not to be confused with Pain du jour(Daily Bread).
Once I saved some for my son's lunch when I picked him up from kindergarten.......... by lunch time........that roll was hard as a rock.
You can only buy fresh Italian bread at the bakery .... before 8am........ and it's only really good that one day. But that one day, it is heavenly. And in Italy, those rolls are called panini. That's one word that's basically the same in Italian, French, and Spanish. Usually it's 2 out of 3 that are the same.

Re: Moldy bread? Throw it out.
The only reason I did it was because the muffins had only been home from the store for two days and I was pissed off.
Come to find out, preppers and others actually make their own penecillin for the home medicine cabinet and bug-out bag.

I won't eat moldy bread no way Jose. Muffins should last more than 2 days without going moldy too. There's something wrong with that.

I don't understand this. Bread for breakfast? WTH is French Toast?
I'm on a low-carb diet. Breakfast is an egg. Maybe some pig-parts to go with it.
As for moldy stuff...we're too squeamish. Nuke it in the microwave, and it's all good.

I rarely eat breakfast for many years now, but I used to enjoy a big breakfast when I was skinny. Lol.Casey Jones wrote:I don't understand this. Bread for breakfast? WTH is French Toast?

I got spoiled in LaPlace , Louisiana. Andouille capital of the world.
When i would get off a 12 hour shift in the morning, I would go to a place called The Donut Hole(I think). This place had the best donuts in the world. Hundreds of dozens of fresh boxed donuts that were destined for offices in and about NOLA.
Long before McDonald's had a skimpy , egg white burrito, this place had a huge Breakfast Burrito. Took 2 hands to eat.
3 or 4 eggs, ham, cooked andoullie, sausage, onions, green onions, cheese, and ground beef. Seasoned right , too.
$4.99@. I would buy 2 everyday, along with a half dozen donuts. One to eat when I got home and one to refrigerate to take to work the next night.
I believe I contained more gas than than the refinery.
If you had 2 or 3 extra minutes they would drop in some hot oil and make it a chimichanga at no extra charge.

Looks like the place is still going strong.

I bought a loaf of bread a few months ago from that same store, I won't divulge the store name but to say it's a well known big box grocer, took the bread home, opened it, and ... voila, half of it was black mold.
I threw it out of course.
