Bread Crumbs Empty Bread Crumbs

Post by HawkTheSlayer Fri Nov 10, 2023 4:49 pm

I really prefer Panko bread crumbs.i used to buy a box of each. Both Italian Style, regular and Panko. They come in the same size container.
But I quit buying Panko a couple of years ago when i realized they were twice the price and half the amount of regular bread crumbs making them 4 times more expensive.

It's been a long time since I've bought any Panko.
If I remember, I'll price them again next time I go shopping.

I like panko too I must have got this from you. I also buy the plain or italian plus the panko.... Panko seems to burn so quickly if you're not careful.

This is true.

But anyone that knows me knows I cook everything low and slow. Lol.

Cooking time is gauged by can, bodily hydration numbers . Razz

I'll cook these peppers at 275-300 for 1-1.5 hours in the small convection oven/Emeril air fryer.
No 400 for me!

I have heard that cooking meat at lower temps causes an increase in carcinogenic properties in the meat. Now. i don't necessarily believe that. What do you think.

I know eating lots of heavily smoked foods is prolly pas bon pour toi.
But smoked items are tasty.

Smoked sausage
Andouille
Tasso
Smoked pigtails
Smoked pork neckbones
Smoked ham hocks and shanks
Smoked turkey necks
Smoked ham
Smoked turkey breast
Smoked chicken( one of my favs) especially for gumbo
Smoked garfish( all-time great seasoning and snack food. Have to be careful not to eat it all off the smoker)
Smoked, freshly made, pork and Italian sausage
Smoked pork chops!

Panko crumbs are superior to basic crumbs and healthier because they absorb less oil, which also makes them crunchier. I've never burned mine and that usually only happens if you have the temperature too high and don't keep an eye on it.

What do you call expensive? I buy panko in 1kg bags for $7 and I think that's pretty good.

On the rare occasion I've run out of panko I'll grate some frozen bread and add my own seasonings. I won't buy those boxes of very fine 'guess what's in them' crumbs.

Smoked has been done for eons correct?   Do they really know these things that they profess?

I've made my own bread crumbs in a pinch or if i wanted the breading to be low fat/cal.

Regular bread crumbs are like $1 for 15 ounces or almost a pound. Or at least, used to be. I have plenty on hand and haven't bought any in a while.

Panko was like over 2 dollars for 7 ounces . So around $4/lb x 2.2 for kilos is roughly or about $9for a kilo.
For cheaper than most products sold by the kilo. Bread Crumbs 773625082

They're also very high in salt, chemicals and preservatives. Moderation should be the key right? Eat that stuff on a regular basis and your body will eventually object.
