Darn Good chocolate cake.... i doubt that
but no more. This is one of THE best Chocolate cakes i've had. It doesn't need an icing but i'm going to make it death by Darn Good Chocolate cake.
prep pan. i used a bundt pan, greased it and then sprinkled flour to cover...then discard loose flour. set aside. Set your oven rack to middle of oven. preheat to 350 degrees
1 package plain devils food cake or dark choc fudge cake MIX
1 package 3.9 oz chocolate instant pudding mix
4 large eggs
1 cup sour cream makes it rich
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 AND 1/2 cup semi sweet chock chips.
Place cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, warm water, oil in mixing bowl. Blend with mixer on low one minute, scrape sides as necessary...that will be several times...this is a thick batter. Then mix on medium for 2 to 3 minutes till well blended. Batter will be thick and well blended. FOLD in Chocolate chips making sure they well distributed throughout batter. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth out with spatula. Place in over...duh.
Bake until the cake springs back when lightly touched with your finger and JUST starts to pull away from the sides of pan. about 45 to 50 minutes. Remove pan from oven and place on a wire rack to cool 20 minutes. Run a sharp knife around edges gently and invert it onto plate to cool completely....20 minutes or more. OR, invert it onto serving platter to slice and serve while still warm.
Store this cake covered in aluminum foil or plastic wrap at room temp for one week or freeze it..wrapped in foil for up to six months. THaw cake overnight on the counter before serving.

i cut off the 'top' of the cake which is really the bottom that was taller than the top edge of the bundt pan to make it set on serving platter even.
It is now out of the pan and on a platter and it is Gorgeous.
I am making this for the guys that pick up my trash on mondays. They found my keys in the garbage.
