The 14th Amendment to the Constitution says that Congress can bar people who "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the U.S. from holding office. It was originally meant to prevent former Confederates from serving in the government after the Civil War.

Congress should bar itself.

There was no insurrection and that's the sole purpose of this idiocy because they are terrified that Trump will rise again.

They should look deeper than their hate. If only they were capable of that.

They are terrified he will come back in 2024 and all this idiocy is to try to prevent that.

They are setting a very dangerous precedent though and I hope it comes back to bite them on the ass again and again and again.
