It's not a matter of if he can do that or not. He can't with the current Senate and Biden. Any bill that isn't garbage would get killed immediately in the Senate. Democrats passed the suck-you-bus bill to prevent the IRS from being defunded, and Republicans didn't do anything to stop it. Any "border security" bill passed in the House will be blocked in the Senate without amnesty.

I don't know why these House Republicans are so insistent on McCarthy out of all 222 Republicans, but it certainly isn't because he earned the job on his own merit. The best thing for us would be for this vote to drag out so that no bills can pass.

Trump announced his support of McCarthy a few weeks ago.

Well, FWIW, I don't support McCarthy, and what I read about the issue indicates GOP rank and file do not support him either. Trump presumably has a good reason, but it's nowhere in what I've seen. It appears to be from a template stamped when Trump was elected. What I said back then during the election was that Trump was the only candidate that I felt could beat that rotten witch.

McCarthy is not going to get rid of 87000 new IRS agents. McCarthy has aided dems on all major issues even before the dems stole the white house. Like the dems, they say one thing and do just the opposite.

FWIW my best guess is that out of the options for Speaker Trump probably feels that he can control McCarthy.  I doubt he can but time will tell.
