Well first off, I'm not going to get into a urinating contest with someone who thinks they KNOW scripture yet, only lists ONE book of the 66 in the Bible. Would it be "better" for earthly slaves NOT to disobey their masters and be killed? Is that what you think God should have said? Folks like you do whatever they believe is "right" regardless of what the Bible says, so I'm sure that few would give up their slaves anyway. By the way, since you are so "knowledgable" about scripture, maybe you should spend some time and do a study about the actual differences between an indentured servant and a slave in biblical times, it may be enlightening.
Secondly, there are LOTS of scriptures that talk about Christianity and how a Christian is supposed to live. You probably skipped over that part because it would not support your theory. There is a VAST difference between a Christian and those who are of the world but, here again, that would NOT support your ideas.
In short, YES I DO believe that you have an agenda and a vendetta against God and His word, your comments prove it.
I don't claim to be an authority on scripture. I asked you to show me in the Bible where I was wrong and you just insult me because I only quoted one scripture?
There was no "insult", the fact that you took one where none existed, shows what your motives are/were. You cherry picked ONE passage and used that passage to base your entire theology on. You wanted me to spoon feed scripture to you when you obviously have a Bible and could easily look it up for yourself and SEE where you are way off base. Instead you insult ME with some sort of challenge that you made up that I guess I was supposed to get into with you. Threats, intimidation and manipulation are not something that mean anything to me nor will they motivate me to spoon feed you. In short, LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF rather than cherry pick ONE passage that you THINK supports your view!
You claimed that I have an agenda against God and His scripture. That's an insult. There are numerous scriptures concerning how we are to behave as slaves or slaveowners, but God doesn't condemn the institution of slavery. I'd look up more examples, but I'm waiting in line at the barber shop.
Some see truth as an insult, I cannot help nor control that.

I sure viewed it as an insult. A pompous one at that.
No one, mortal man , can interpret scripture and declare another man's interpretation as a false hood.
Scripture was written to be used as a guide to each man's salvation.

And the continuing insertion of religion into non-religious threads has become a liability and is being looked at carefully.

Just as one can call a Red ball, Yellow, the Constitution and scripture can be twisted and one can "interpret" it however one wishes. The "interpretation" may be way off and may be for political, social, emotional or financial reasons but, to base one's sole ideology and/or theology on one part of it is ignorant, uneducated and just plain wrong. To claim that one KNOWS what the author thinks is ridiculous.
The Constitution like the Bible, is just a piece of paper, neither can provide salvation, freedom nor enslavement. Both can be applied correctly or distorted.

My single passage is a million times the evidence you provided. I gave an apposing opinion and you went straight to "you are evil" and still haven't backed your opinion up with a single verse. My single passage was all it took unless you think God will contradict himself. I've read the entire Bible twice and studied the vast majority over my 55 years on this Earth. Here is a list of verses about slavery. God forbids unrightfully forcing a fellow Jew into slavery and demands the death penalty and God tells us not to turn a slave over to their master if they seek shelter with you, but God doesn't condemn the entire institution of slavery. God seems to be neutral on the subject as far as I can see. Show me where God condemns it, please.

Also, where did I threaten, intimidate, or try to manipulate you?
Hawk - The opening post in this thread invited religious discussion when it asked if slavery was sinful. Sin is any offense against God, hence the religious discussion. You could move the whole thread to the Religious section.

1. No mortal can say who goes to heaven and who does not. You said he went "straight to heaven" as an absolute statement when you do not know.
2. Slavery aside, Jackson was 100% responsible for the Trail Of Tears"...in direct violation of a supreme court order in which hundreds of Indians died while being forced at bayonet point to arid and foreign lands.
It is my opinion, Jackson was the worst prez ever.

PS...I DO LIKE how you spell who have as whove. Makes good sense.

Now you are just embarrassing yourself. Trying to come off as an expert when you are completely wrong about what you are saying.
I never once said Thomas Jackson was president, because no one named Thomas Jackson was EVER president.
There was this guy named ANDREW Jackson, but I guess you do not know much about him as evidenced you do not even know his first name.
You internet "experts" are funny.
There WAS someone named Thomas Jackson a little later on in History, but most people just refer to him as Stonewall Jackson.
Go to a used book store and spend $3 on an old US History book. It is aMazing what you can learn once you get off the internet.
PS...you are NEVER going to admit you are 100% completely wrong about this are you ?
There was no president named Thomas Jackson as you keep saying. You are completely and totally WRONG. Now can you admit you are ? or do you still think you are perfect and incapable of screwing up and being wrong.
It has been my experience those that never admit they are wrong when they clearly are, can never learn from their mistakes, because they do not feel they ever make any.
This is why the internet is so messed up.....lots and lots of people being completely wrong about subjects, but never admit it.
