tired of the conservatives
whove been brainwashed into thinking slavery was a grievious sin. change. Thomas Jackson upon dying went straight to heaven. every sunday unless on the march, or in battle, he taught the local black sundayschool. i suspect Jim, his slave spread the word about this most pious devote christian. shame on all you dolts whove been brainwashed into repeating the communist manifesto that claims everything to do with slavery was pure evil.

While I don't care much for slavery, it was allowed in Biblical times and the entire institution of slavery wasn't banned by God or even declared "evil but tolerated". I think the most tolerated of slavery was as in a debtor - lender relationship. I still don't like the idea of individuals owning other individuals. It definitely doesn't agree with our founding documents and I'm glad it's gone.
Along the same vein, I would like to see a "tiered" society in some ways. I would declare that anybody who gets their unearned welfare from the government is not allowed to vote. Voting should only be for those who are not dependent on the government for their sustenance. Deadbeats and poor life choice decision makers would not be allowed to vote themselves a raise.

"the entire institution of slavery wasn't banned by God or even declared 'evil but tolerated'" Really? Not sure what Bible you have read but, mine definitely DOES ban slavery. The fact that humans seem to think that they know "better" is exactly why Jesus turned over the money changers tables in the tabernacle. The fact that you claim something that is not even close to the truth smacks of an agenda against God and His word.
Re: tired of the conservatives
i will come right out and say it. your bible is crap. Thomas Jackson was alot more knowledgeable about the real bible and what it tells us than youll ever be. and if Nigger Jim felt it was a miscarrage of justice him being a slave, he never wouldve given CSA arty orders during a battle. nor would he had stayed with Sandie Pendleton after Jackson died of pnumonia. if it were such a huge evil as you relate, EVERY SLAVE wouldve hated it.RV wrote:Crusader wrote:While I don't care much for slavery, it was allowed in Biblical times and the entire institution of slavery wasn't banned by God or even declared "evil but tolerated". Colossians 3
22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.
The Bible says to obey your Earthly masters. It doesn't say you have to like it or to overthrow your masters. Fortunately, we no longer have to deal with slavery in America. Our Declaration of Independence states that "all men are created equal". We settled this over a century ago. Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers because they turned the Temple into a strip mall with weighted scales and no respect for God.
RV - God freed the slaves in Egypt because they were HIS people and they were put into slavery unjustly. Please show me in the Bible where God bans slavery and tell me more about my "agenda against God".

lets not forget the 35 slaves Nathan Forrest personaly lead into every battle as shock troops. everytime Nathan personaly was in combat, his company of blacks fought just as hard as he did. these being slaves. outright slaves. though promised complete freedom after hostilities ceased.

and then we had James Bowie. who lead the freed blacks Lafete captured back to Red Stick. i guess if they though freedom was better, they wouldntve gone back with Bowie.

1. No mortal can say who goes to heaven and who does not. You said he went "straight to heaven" as an absolute statement when you do not know.
2. Slavery aside, Jackson was 100% responsible for the Trail Of Tears"...in direct violation of a supreme court order in which hundreds of Indians died while being forced at bayonet point to arid and foreign lands.
It is my opinion, Jackson was the worst prez ever.
