That sure is high. And that's the future for residences here too. Peak usage, etc surcharge. It's the whole reason they are replacing meters with "smart meters" .

Businesses have been paying something similar for decades but they call it "demand charge".

I guess if you don't need AC or heat, usage is pretty low.

It's very hot here. Can't live without AC.
We don't have prolonged winters. But it can get very cold here for 2 or 3 weeks at a time.

Off topic a bit but notice the writer refers to "the new normal"
Even owning/taking care of pets is categorized under "the new normal"
The behavior modification is even being applied to a simple task
such as owning/caring for a dog....
Even today as I was walking through a supermarket, the PA
system made reference to a store protocol...
It went on the say "The Government and Coles wish to advise....."
Never before have I heard that phrase on a PA system...
Behavorial conditioning....its all around us....
Seek and ye shall find....
But I digress.....
