Re: Protests in Europe.
I'm looking hard for a wooded piece of land to build on. The free fire wood would be a gold mine with the coming manufactured energy crisis. Besides, wood burning stoves are beautiful and a perfect way to get rid of wood cleared to build my home.

Re: Protests in Europe.
There seems to be an appetite by society in general for an unlimited amount of abuse, neglect, murder, etc.
The election fraud and President Trump's obvious loss due to election fraud, didn't matter to folks. The unconstitutional "mandates" didn't matter to folks. The military equipment left in Afghanistan didn't matter to folks. The record high fossil fuel prices didn't matter to folks. The murderous "Vaccines", didn't matter to folks. The war on gasoline automobiles and the push for battery powered everything, hasn't mattered to folks. The skyrocketing inflation and food prices haven't mattered to folks. Things will only get worse as heating increases and costs for such increase. I cannot "see" the public caring about the increased costs or as was posted "heads will roll", I seriously doubt it.
The fact that the media continually puts out Democrat propaganda and never questions ANY lie, fake news or twist of facts by the Democrats hasn't mattered to folks. The Dems could detonate a Nuclear Bomb right in the middle of the country and the media would report that everything was fine and should a "right winger" say anything different, they are just spreading "misinformation"...

Re: Protests in Europe.
I suppose when our ability to cope with something is overwhelmed, then
we lose tolerance...
Then we do something about "it"....
We lose our ability to cope when our wellbeing is threatened, or the well being of a loved one is threatened...
When our sources of food water shelter and income are threatened, then
we do something....
At the moment all we seem to have is a lack of trust in government..
We seem to simply accept this as "normal"..
Its not normal...
This is behavioral conditioning 101...
One day we will rebel...
That day is not far away....
we lose tolerance...
Then we do something about "it"....

The assholes at the Louisiana Public Service Commission have allowed ENTERGY LOUISIANA and ENTERGY NewOrleans to increase their rates to a total of about 16cents/kWh. No one can pay their bills. $500-600-700 monthly bills are not uncommon.
Electric heat is a big user of electricity. I usually set the thermostat at 65 in the winter but looks like I'll have to lower it to 60 this winter.
Surrounded by oil and gas, and refineries.
And can't afford electricity.
60 thats a bit chilly, I like to keep the house at 72,, start growing a wood lot for firewood
I don't have a wood burner here. But I do have a huge one in the shed. It could heat a reception hall.
My brother has a $2000 top of the line, soapstone on cast heater. Great unit. But they use it sparingly.
Too lazy to cut and split wood. Lol. And clean ashes.
And the splitter splits both ways! The cylinder is mounted BELOW the ram and when you finish a split , you don't have to return the ram. You just split again going the other way.
I'm not sure I could get a wood burner in this manufactured outfit, or how safe it would be.

Re: Protests in Europe.
Yep. I had an ash chopping block on legs I had finished and urethane. It was about 30 inches across and could double as a small table. I donated it to the hunting camp after I got out of the club. They still use it after many years.vege57 wrote:HawkTheSlayer wrote:Have too much wood already. Have to pile it up and burn it in piles all up and down the pasture. Like the old butchers shops that had their massive wooden chopping blocks, Health and safety probably wont let you do it these days

billy the kid wrote:My rates will be as follows:
Peak usage up from 27.78c per k to 45.8 per k
Off peak usage (nites) up from 15.3 to 25.3
Shoulder usage (in between peak and off peak) up from 26.7 to 44.1
Whilst I can absorb the increase..there will be many who cant...
(I have reverse cycle air conditioning as does everyone else in the building
but I never use it...)
That sure is high. And that's the future for residences here too. Peak usage, etc surcharge. It's the whole reason they are replacing meters with "smart meters" .
Businesses have been paying something similar for decades but they call it "demand charge".
I guess if you don't need AC or heat, usage is pretty low.
It's very hot here. Can't live without AC.
We don't have prolonged winters. But it can get very cold here for 2 or 3 weeks at a time.
