Rare Lobster Saved from Seafood Resaurant
https://www.westernjournal.com/rare-lobster-saved-seafood-restaurant-becomes-instant-shellebrity/The Red Lobster restaurant in Hollywood, Florida, recently stumbled across an unusual specimen that was bright orange, a 1-in-30-million find.
And what else could the restaurant reasonably name the orange crustacean but “Cheddar”?
Cool find, but "Cheddar?" Huh? Cheddar cheese is white! Dufuses. I'd've name it "Trump."

Caught quit a few Blue Crawfish over the years. I'd say the ratio of mutatation is about right.
Some crawfish are blue.
But commercial species like the Red Swamp Crawfish and The White River crawfish have very few mutations.
I gave one to an aquarium outfit . Another to a Bass Pro Shop.
I never ate one to see if it tastes better than regular crawfish.
One was fairly medium size and caught in the Pierre Part(Swamp People Area), and some were caught just north of there in the Bayou Pigeon area.
But the biggest Blue one I ever caught was in the MISSISSIPPI river, hardwood bottoms close to home.

Did they let it go? I hope not. People will free a lobster they think and drop it in the ocean...where it drowns on the way down. idiots.

Actually, the giant one I caught, I gave to my buyer at the time .
He had it mounted! I don't know how da f@ck you mount a crawfish! Lolol.
He prolly put it in an ant nest until they ate all the insides out and then put some clear coat , polyurethane on it , because it was too shiny! Lol.
He used it as a fixture in his retail market for years.
We had a bad falling out when i cuaght him cheating my catch weight and he wouldn't gimme by blue bug back .
But it's all good.
2 years later he went bankrupt .

youd hafta ask vege how to properly mount a crawfish. id guess youd need to keep your pecker away from its pincers.HawkTheSlayer wrote:Calypso Jones wrote:Did they let it go? I hope not. People will free a lobster they think and drop it in the ocean...where it drowns on the way down. idiots.

You could let it go. The water is not that deep and they are fresh water. At the end of the season, most ponds/rice fields use Atchafalaya Basin /wild crawfish to restock.Calypso Jones wrote:Did they let it go? I hope not. As the ponds are being drawn down , the wild crawfish are released into the receding water where the crawfish will bury. Usually, at this time of the year, the females are loaded with eggs. It's advantageous to have a high percentage of females.
The problem is as the water recedes, the egrets, cranes, birds of all kinds, herons, all come to feast on the crawfish in the shallows.
The birds get into a frenzy and it's hard to run them off when they know that much food is available.

Re: Rare Lobster Saved from Seafood Resaurant
Fresh water crayfish in NZ are selectively bred to produce reds and blues. , In the wild they would be better described as uncommon rather than rare

Why would I ask Vege? He doesn't know anything about commercial fishing, crawfishing, crawfish morphology, or even how to boil them!
But I bet he would eat and generate a pile of heads quick if I boiled them !
Just like you would.
Or do you have a seafood allergy?
