Baldwin Shooting

Jan 3 Update: Authorities are still investigating the fatal shooting that occurred in October on the low-budget movie set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, N.M. Mr. Baldwin, who was holding a gun on the set, has previously said he didn’t pull the trigger of the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

Mr. Baldwin has said he pulled back the gun’s hammer and let it go, and the gun went off.

“I’ve had more people who have been kind and thoughtful and generous of spirit than I’ve had people who are malignant about the death of Halyna Hutchins, ” Mr. Baldwin said in a nearly 13-minute video posted on New Year’s Day. “I’m not afraid to say that, and to couch that in some euphemisms. Somebody died very tragically.”

Investigators are sifting through increasingly divergent accounts of what happened that day, including from Mr. Baldwin, Mr. Halls and Ms. Gutierrez Reed, who have all said they aren’t responsible for the shooting.

“This has been surely the worst situation I’ve ever been involved with,” Mr. Baldwin said in the Instagram video. “And I’m very hopeful that the people in charge with investigating this whole thing get to the truth as soon as possible.”

Baldwin also issued a Jan 1 statement on Instagram that I started to read but didn't finish.
