Gun Control Activist Alec Baldwin Shoots and Kills Crew Member on Movie Set, Shoots Director

Actor Alec Baldwin is in hot water.

A crew member is dead after Alec Baldwin “accidentally” fired a prop gun that turned out to be a real gun.

Not only did Baldwin accidentally shoot and kill a crew member, he also shot the director.

The director is injured, but is alive.

As of this writing, Baldwin has NOT been arrested.

This happened on the set of his new movie, “Rust.”

Per reports, this was supposed to be a prop gun.

So that raises the question:

How was a real gun fired if this was supposed to be a prop gun?

CNN confirms the death of a crew member:

A female crew member has died and another injured following an accident involving a prop firearm on the New Mexico set of the film “Rust,” according to a law enforcement statement provided to CNN.

The prop firearm was discharged by actor and producer Alec Baldwin, 68, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

The female victim was identified as director of photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, according to investigators. She was transported to the hospital via helicopter and pronounced dead by medical personnel at University of New Mexico Hospital.

The other victim, 48-year-old director Joel Souza, was transported to Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center by ambulance for care. Details on his condition were not released.

“According to investigators it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged,” a statement from authorities said. “Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.”

Here’s the ironic thing.

Alec Baldwin has a long history of being outspoken about gun control.

He spoke out against gun violence and believes more laws need to be created to prevent gun violence.

At one point, Baldwin said it was time to “rethink the Second Amendment.”

Actor Alec Baldwin entered the gun control push on March 5 by tweeting his criticism of the number of guns Americans can purchase and stressing his belief that it is time to rethink the Second Amendment.

His tweet comes on the heels of a new NRATV ad calling out “every Hollywood phony” and members of the “lying media.”

The ad features NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch saying, “We’ve had enough of the lies, the sanctimony, the arrogance, the hatred, the pettiness, the fake news. We are done with your agenda to undermine voters’ will and individual liberty in America.”

She continues, “So to every lying member of the media, to every Hollywood phony, to the role model athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents, to the politicians who would rather watch America burn than lose one ounce of their personal power … your time is running out.”

Baldwin used the NRA ad as a springboard from which to complain about the number of guns Americans can legally purchase and to criticize the Second Amendment in general.

The Second Amendment says nothing about how many guns a citizen can purchase because the goal of the Second Amendment was to restrict governments, rather than individuals. As with all amendments in the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment is in place to restrain tyranny via regulation and legislation, not to limit the people’s freedom.

Looked at another way, does the First Amendment only protect an American’s right to speak a certain number of words freely? Are Americans limited to an arbitrary standard of 30 or 40 words of free speech, or it is okay for Alec Baldwin to speak freely using 49 words in a tweet?

Of course, the irony and hypocrisy does not negate the tragic nature of this shooting.

It is currently unclear when filming for the movie will resume.

What is he doing with a prop gun in his hand considering the number of people who have died on set in this fashion. NO slap on the wrist?? This fool should learn something about a gun. I don't think cinematographer and director are required to stand in front of a gun like an actor.   That means this was most likely horseplay and prosecutable.

it had a live round. WHY was he even messing around with it..ANDWHY point it towards anyone off set.

Crew had walked off set hours before the shooting protesting working conditions.

There is one possibility of a genuine accident.  The gun could be old and/or have a clogged barrel.  The gun could have been pointed in a safe direction when the trigger was pulled.  If the gun exploded, debris could hit multiple people.  Then the blame would be on the armorer and it wouldn't be so cut and dry as Baldwin pointing a loaded prop gun at an innocent bystander.

Calypso's link says it was a live round. Sounds like at least manslaughter. Since he was arguing with her over camera crew pay, you could make the case for Murder 2. Baldwin is the producer. He is the boss there and in charge of most of the production.

Maybe someone had it in for Baldwin. After all he is a complete dick!

There should be NO live rounds in a prop gun. Isn't that how Brandon Lee died? Someone put live rounds in a prop gun?

I don't know a lot about guns but surely prop guns could be made so that they cannot load/fire live rounds?
