Let them drop out

"Joanne Jacobs reported, "Locked out of high school in Memphis, Hispanic boys are working construction jobs and taking pride in helping support their families, reports Chalkbeat’s Ian Round."


Her story went on to say many young black males (and those of other minorities) are eschewing school in favor of collecting a paycheck.
Well, why not?

These are not stupid men. Far from it. They are doing what they believe is in their best interest,

College is expensive and anymore is geared toward women. An accusation is all a woman needs to get an ex-boyfriend expelled for rape.



Why should young men go into debt when they can get a job, get a car, and get a girl without the hassle of being accused of rape when they break up?

As for high-school dropouts, they help themselves and their schools by eliminating someone who does not want to be there. A GED at 18 is just as good as a diploma, especially as they have been downgraded to a certificate of faithful attendance.

KOMO reported, "Baltimore City Schools: 41% of high school students earn below 1.0 GPA."

Sounds like they already dropped out.

Oh good grief. Let my people free.

I get that dropouts are X times as likely to wind up in prison, do drugs, listen to heavy metal music, and do donuts in the courthouse lawn.

But you know something? Being born male automatically makes you 9 times as likely to go to prison. We can play these numbers games all day, but the bottom line is that we are all individuals and the only thing we owe society is not to harm others.



The argument that they should not make a decision that may adversely affect the rest of their lives is laughable in a world where judges allow 10-year-olds to take treatments to change sexes."

Yup.

Excellent idea. Learn challenging trades. HVAC is not a walk in the park. Carpentry takes more than a strong back - takes the ability to measure, plan, manipulate tools...and visualize, in your mind's eye.

So Hispanic males are passing on the sumps of lower living? Good on them. Next step, to go to Mexico or thereabouts, to find women who actually like men and want to settle down. Just as white males should be going to Poland or Russia - not mail-order brides, but to scope out an actual suitable woman, each...to take as a spouse.

And leave the koledge-corrupted Woketards with their cats and their Ho-Hos and their tattoos and Marxism.

Making $22 an hour with a degree in English Lit, or Lesbian Dance Theory, is also a pipedream.

Even a degree in Business Management, now, is only a ticket to beginning the student-loan repayment. Often made out of the earnings of driving a cab, or tending bar, or...Stimmie checks, or Soros pay for rent-a-mob work.

I've yet to see a PhD able to fix his own plumbing...or do much of anything for that matter.

Education makes you stupid. I've seen it, and more than once.

We got a lot of educated people on the railroad...not CSX, but when Conrail was Conrail. Management in that time - 1977 to 1999 - did not see college education as a disqualification for work in train-and-engine service. In fact they slightly favored it - figuring, if the candidate turned out to be good, he'd make a good field supervisor and even regional management. Conrail liked to promote from within.

So we got a lot of koledge kids with some student loans - not like today, but pressing. Two of the smart ones I hired with, were promoted to being my bosses, and both of them good ones.

But. Always, we had to de-educate them. Common-sense and problem-solving. There was no calling for help at 0300 when the train breaks apart and you don't know why. You ARE the help. If it's not on fire, you fix it. If it is, you call 9-1-1. That's your decision tree. Make it happen, boy.

(watch them bristle at that...even the white guys...)

Let me throw in another angle here.

I noticed the statistics provided by KOMO.
KOMO(Cajun cousin comeaux) is a liberal propaganda outfit out of Seattle. 

It makes great sense that KOMO would praise the trades instead of higher education.
There is no right-to-work protection on the west coast! All of these these tradesmen and women would be immediately absorbed into the already dominant union workforce. 

As a college educated, sometimes tradesman, I agree with the OP. 

With the exception of carpenters, plumbers, etc, high paying tradesman jobs like welders, fitters, boilermakers, electricians all make the big money working contract work and long hours in the refineries and chemical plants all over the nation.

Already, Biden has killed hundreds of thousand of tradesmen jobs for years to come. Only routine repair and replace will take place in the plants. And you better be connected,  because shutdown/turn around will also be few and far between.

Lots of these young people will find themselves paying dues to a union that can't place them in scarce  jobs. The favorites will get a job or two, nothing more.

Right to work states pay the same or even more than union wages!  

You know , if you work non union in a non right to work state, your employer is required to deduct union dues from your check and send it to the union, anyway?

Most of the guys i deal with..in 'the trades' are in business of their own. Are their businesses required to be union?

I always encouraged my kids to go to university , but there were times when I questioned it, But now that my daughter has come out the other side with her degree and has a great job with good pay. , i feel a little more relaxed, my son still has a year to go with his computer sciences degree

No. But if you're a self employed, carpenter, or plumber, or electrician, or HVAC in a state without Right-to-work protections, you will be hounded to death, intimidated, and the union will give some real bad reviews free of charge.
