Texas Republican Primary Race for Governor

I see it as a win-win.  Texas will get a governor who respects the rights of individual citizens and the limitation of Federal control of our lives.  Abbot has taken hits for his momentary caving on covid restrictions and his ERCOT appointments, but I think he has learned from his mistakes and will prevail.  The primary race will push either candidate further to the right.  I can stand by either candidate after the race and the primary race will only give the winner more public recognition for the general election and more momentum for a conservative agenda.  Governor Abbot has been under fire and rumors of primary challenges have been around for months and Abbot has responded with a Texas Border Wall and Constitutional Carry.

I'm interested to hear what the 2 candidates will campaign on, since there isn't much to disagree on.

I'm sure it was an accident in the Fox News quote on the part of West, but the "Let’s stand up for God, for country, and for Texas." quote is a little tone deaf since his opponent is in a wheel chair.

We're still part of the US.  We will need to be a little more surgical with limiting Federal oversight.  We can start with refusing to enforce all federal laws if the feds don't want to enforce our border laws.  The next time a bank is robbed (federal crime) the police only need to respond when a state law is broken.  If the feds want to charge me with carrying a concealed gun into a post office, they can make sure there is a federal agent there to enforce it.  The left does the same thing with drug possession and environmental issues.

Rick Perry shouldn't have caved when he threatened to arrest TSA employees for groping passengers.  He caved when 0bama threatened to halt all interstate air travel with Texas.  Perry would have won that battle and gave him some serious credibility.  For the record, I was a Barbara Medina fan back then.  Screw Glenn Beck and his primary meddling against Tea Party candidates.

If secession does become an actual thing, I support stocking the Red River with alligators.    We should put casinos in Dennison, Gainesville, and Longview to limit the exit of Texas money to Oklahoma and Louisiana casinos.

there would be no reason to lynch the federals within our borders until we can keep them out. as with the FAA, we can state wide take over that citing immiment domain. the crux of the tit for tat would be turning over of federal officers who flew into our military bases. if we could get the fed to divide itself, that would be a very big first step.

Many of those feds you want to "lynch" are Texans.  We can't put the cart before the horse.  An official secession needs to happen first and federal employees need to have a chance to decide between being Texan or a federal employee.  I have a cousin who is an investigator for a local county sheriff department and also works for the BATFE.  I have distant cousins who are federal agents and retired military.  My son is in the USAF and stationed out of state.  If you immediately go with a "take no prisoners" attitude, you will shoot the movement in the foot.  I'm not ready to see my son abandoned by the state he grew up in.

i see no need for a TEXAN who wishes to enforce an IRS tax code. naturaly the TEXANs will flock home. the ones who dont, shouldnt be allowed back in. naturaly we would welcome all current military to join the TEXAS army. we could fund them very easily too. but to put this in limbo by allowing it to die in our legislature would be a huge mistake. you just do it.

as with the current race. i dont see where we went after past democrats who held political ownership over southern counties. Abbot has done very little to right past wrongs. if he feels up to his eyeballs in current developements, he should step down. for that shows a complete lack of delegating proper authority to those under him.

look up: Archie Parr, George Parr. those funds ( all of them ) have yet to be returned to the State of TEXAS. once we get a competant governor in office, then and only then, will our economy and political clout on a national level improve. for to rest our laurels on past graft and corruption is akin to comparing ourselve to the other rotten apples in a barrel.
