Re: Will the Believers hate me if I ask questions of them here?
C.S. Lewis once provided his own explanation. In the closing line of a paper to Oxford’s Socratic Club, he wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” Lewis believed Christianity provides a framework for understanding many commonsense ideas that people in our society affirm.
I agree. If you listen carefully to what people claim are the powerful truths they live by, you’ll recognize that Christianity is the only worldview that can justify all of them. Consider the following claims about reality and how not every belief system can account for them.

Why did your gods wait so long to get into the mix? Humans have lived in groups for 3-4 hundred thousand years. Why wait 398,000 years?
People inclined to believe the Christian myths will find a way to fit everything to their beliefs.

well that is where we part ways. Humans have NOT been around for 3-4 hundred thousand years.
and people inclined to deny God his due for creation will find a way to fit evolution and false science in their beliefs.
Haven't you gotten totally off your original post/statement? Is this like changing the goal posts when you can't prove your own claims? Can you prove your own claims?

It seems we have. Every couple of years we discover humans have existed longer than we believed before.
I suppose you believe we just sprang up 6,000 years ago.
I do not deny gods exist. I simply ask for evidence.

Message threads drift. What claim do believe I made?

no evidence will suit you MV. You don't deny gods exist??!! In your first post, you deny a god/God can supernaturally cause earthly or heavenly miracles. What do you define God/god as anyway?

you left your original thought and as a side you automatically state that christians will hate you. Christians do not hate you. Secondly you deny an event recorded in what we call the Bible Today yet the event of the 'long day' is recorded in the historical texts of other nations at the time. NOW at this point, we're discussing the time line for human existence.

Where are the fossils for 300,0o0 year old man? Historical scientists trot out bone fragments periodically and come up with fantastical stories of the beasts they belong to. How does one do that? LOL except for someone with preconceived beliefs?

Right. A claim that something as significant as the sun and moon standing still for about a day would leave enormous, worldwide evidence. There isn't any.Calypso Jones wrote:MisterVeritis wrote:Calypso Jones wrote:well that is where we part ways. Humans have NOT been around for 3-4 hundred thousand years.

Even the absolutely most conservative sites show modern humans 200k years ago. Others claim 300K years and a few believe 400K. Our nearest homo ancestors begin showing up as far back as six million years ago.
So take your pick. If you believe we have been living in groups for 200K years it is more than enough time for basic lessons to be learned and passed on.
I do wonder why you are opposed to basic science. Do you think it helps your case?
