Re: Computer Problem Help Desk
Another alternative is to install a linux o/s which should reformat your hard drive anyway. But it depends, do you have a Windows DVD and license code (thats if you want to re-install windows?)
Re: Computer Problem Help Desk
Good point. :thumbsup2:
Is there another way to do that if you don't have the code?
It seems you shouldn't need the code, or if you do, MS should be able to supply it. Just another absurdity that works against the consumer.

Re: Computer Problem Help Desk
Oooops missed this sorry.
I couldn't find my code it didn't seem to be anywhere it should be. I was thinking about dl Windows 10 because I am still running Windows 8 and thought maybe I should upgrade. I couldn't find it anywhere myself but got my son to look around and he found it and saved it.
So, yes I have the license code but not the DVD.

Myself I've always preferred win xp, windows went downhill with 7,8, etc. As for distros and code you could try downloading pirate ones onto a usb stick and scanning it for virus and malware. It depends on your IT skills I suppose.
Re: Computer Problem Help Desk
I won't waste my time calling a "help desk" anymore. They are more interested in how it's going to be paid for than in actually helping to fix anything. Generally the "help desk" personnel do not speak English and keep you on the phone as long as possible. It's a scam, a sham and intended to make them money rather than in helping you.
I even had a guy come to my house once, he knew less than I did. He had less experience, less education and less ability. Interesting enough, he knew all about how to take money from my pocket and put it in his though...
