Imagine, now, a 25-pound cat going up that ladder.

What ended it, was...not age, but that claw damage to the home(s) led my mother to get the cats (two at that point) to be declawed.

That poor guy couldn't climb. It must have been one of his real heartbreaks...so, what the hell.  He kept my feet warm, so I'd carry him to bed with me.

Further edit:

That ladder was assembled by me and my old man, about 1971. I was no craftsman. He was a semi-talented woodworker.

Who would have thought that that prefabricated cabin, and that homebuilt bunk and ladder, would be there, 53 years later? Beautiful homes have been built and bulldozed in that time. Nelson Rockefeller was governor of that state. New York was STABILITY. And America was the Big PX.

Oh, how things change, and how the things you think little of...little more than a treehouse...turn out to last nearly a lifetime.

I try to do that too for Belle but my daughter gets after me. Do you remember that when we were little the dog got what we ate...and they loved it...they seemed to be healthier and live longer too.

i had no dog or cat growing up. snakes, mice, turtles and coon. i love most dogs now. cept ifn theyre agressive for undue cause. my present dog could run off at any time. shes a guest in my house. God has blessed me with someone to help erase the fond memory of my prior dog of 19 years. i must show my gratitude by treating her very well.

I cannot see feeding a dog bread products, or, if there's syrup on the hotcakes, sugar. They're carnivores.
