Gone to Far?
I know it's very hot.
I know it's very dry.
I know there are new wildfires every day , here.
I know there is a statewide, burn ban.
But I did not know until I just saw it on the local news.
It will also be against the law to grill(charcoal I'm guessing) while tail gating in the parking lot at tonight's and tomorrow night's football games.
It's ok to cook in a pan on a propane stove or electric grill.
I think it's pretty silly to think someone can start a wildfire in a university parking lot.

Re: Gone to Far?
yes, I hear you.
It's just going to be 'easier' to understand and monitor to give a blanket ruling.
'NO FIRES in TEXAS.' is a simple direct ruling. None can misunderstand that.
And, in catastrophic fire risk time it is warranted.
We have those here quite often.

Control. PLUS...it seems those in authority don't want anyone to have any fun.

No barby shrimp kabobs or steaks before the game could start a war.
Besides, everybody knows Cajuns have more than enough beer on hand to put out a fire.

Cajun kids are taught at an early age to never run with kabobs in their hand.

Re: Gone to Far?
Living in an area where we suffer catastrophic fires on a regular basis I see no problem with a total fire ban in periods of extreme fire danger. People in general can be just plain stupid and careless.
During a total fire ban you can use a gas or electric barbecue if there's no combustible material within 2 metres of where the bbq is and if you have a water supply within close proximity.
No-one here sees it as a control measure. No open (wood, briquette, charcoal) or liquid fuel fires are allowed nor are pizza ovens etc and it's just plain common sense to account for all the useless idiots out there.

A large part of it is to condition the sheeple into accepting government micromanagement of every aspect of their lives.
Same as those god-damned face diapers.

Re: Gone to Far?
Carrying it over to a university parking lot( most are concrete) is carrying it too far. This current ban also goes for grilling anywhere.
Even on your property.
During Labor Day Weekend! Lol.
I doubt most will pay heed.
