I'm from NE Ohio. Most homes had gas stoves, furnaces, and hot water heaters. Natural gas replaced coal furnaces. We had a converted coal furnace and a coal cellar. I don't recall any home explosions, ever. Our gas was underground piping for the entire area. We had forced air heating. The only time it was cold was when the power lines fell due to ice loading.

A made-up problem.
The Elites are just so jazzed on this "reducing carbon" - which in reality, can only be done by reducing POPULATIONS. Having computerized Smart Meters at the ready to CUT OFF power to homes or regions - in punishment for not adhering to approved behaviors - simplifies their control.
Turning off gas supplies is far harder; and a "smart" gas meter would be far harder to justify and far easier to bypass.
It's all part of turning absolute power over to the motherWEFfers who want to cull 95 percent of the world's population.
