Re: Pale Rider
I had a cowboys and indians tent when I was a kid. We had guns and holsters and bows and arrows with suction thingys on the end. I guess that's frowned on now even though I didn't grow up to run around shooting people with guns or arrows.
I can't say I'm too keen on bows though.

Re: Pale Rider
I had a Davy Crockett coonskin hat and my father
made a wooden rifle for me.
My aunt who was a seamstress made a shirt and long
pants with the frills down the arms and legs...
Search as we may, we couldnt find a pair of moccasins
or a horse for me to ride to the Alamo....
But I sure did shoot a lot of make believe injuns......

I always got wounded so the neighborhood girls could nurse me back to health!

Re: Pale Rider
We had a local movie theatre that always showed westerns
on a saturday afternoon.
After the movie was finished I would jump on my pushy (bicycle) and ride like the clappers til I got home, pretending I was being chased by apaches, or commanches...or whatever...
I never got caught...I always made it to the fort (front gate)
as they came round the corner behind me...
Innocent fun in innocent times....

Re: Pale Rider
We had a local cinema too and often went to the Saturday afternoon movie. We'd do a long walk or catch the train home.
We'd be out all day doing anything and everything and having fun and just had to be home before dark.
It's such a shame that you just can't let your kids do that now. What happened?
Too many creeps and scumbags around now.

Coonskin hat's and smoking cap guns.
And starting fires with a magnifying glass.

Re: Pale Rider
No more kids riding their pushy to school like I did (and my
sons in the 80s)...
I believe bicycle sales went to zero in Oz the day Daniel Morecombe disappeared...
I wouldnt be able to park my pushy outside a movie theatre
these days...it'd be stolen in five minutes...
How times have changed...
Must start a thread on that one day.....

There's a piece of 'Aussie' scum who was once a lawyer, before a Royal Commission outed his corruption and he disappeared from the Bar Registry, who persistently bashes Daniel Morecombe's parents calling them media whores. Corrupt piece of filth he is.
Got side tracked, sorry.
