Re: What is your interpretation of the bible?
One time I was kneeling down praying in the second to last pew in da back. Or maybe dats da front. Lol. Two old ushers I knew were sitting in the very last pew behind me.
They stole my shoes off my feet. Kneel, sit, stand....Kneel, sit, stand.... with no shoes. They gave them back to me at communion time.
By the time I got them on , the line was way up there by the altar. I had to hurry up to the line to catch up before they quit serving communion.
I know the whole church was wondering what the hell was wrong with me for waiting so long. Like I couldn't make up my mind or I was retarded or something. Lol.
But I got um back the following week.
I can't talk about that. I had to go to confession.
But they never took my shoes off again.
I put the fear of Little Jesus(Hawk) in them.
The priest laughed his ass off. Said he was missing all the fun.

It takes much study and discussion to come to an understanding, and, even then, I wouldn't assume I had a full understanding of God's word.
The Bible is NOT easy to understand in all chapters and verses. I've re-read some verses multiple times, and am yet to come to a complete understanding.
Else, why would churches hold Bible study? Isn't that to choose a verse or chapter, and work through a study to interpret its meaning?
I never thought I could do it on my own. I'm hoping I can find a study group to help me.
Well done 2cent.
I think the best way is to read it cover to cover by yourself.
Don't worry about 'understanding it', just churn through it.

You indicate that you think the Bible is difficult to understand, yet you advocate it be read by oneself, alone. Is this because you think there are "spiritual revelations" that present themselves in that venue? Please entertain this notion because I am presently wondering if the OT should be revised, perhaps more ala Aesop. Thanks.

Doesn't Aesop teach some kind of moral lesson? Maybe look at proverbs first then.

basically yes. I've read it 3 times, cover to cover.
When I read it by myself some areas in there were 'highlighted' by The Holy Ghost as I read it.
I got a broad overview of it all. Got to know the weighting and proportion of different topics in it .
If anyone says 'oh, the bible says XYZ', I immediately can say "yes it does" and I have an idea of how important that is.
If I think "I never read that", it's a BIG question mark.
Noone can lie to me about anything significant in there. Noone can over emphasise to me any topic in there.
If someone else teaches me, they will teach me what they want me to know about it.
They will NOT teach me what they want me NOT to know about it.
They will teach me what their church wants me to know. This is usual.
What does ala Aesop mean?
I don't think The Bible is difficult to understand. It's not like physics. It's a book for everyone.

Reading it is best done alone because it is a lot of reading. You won't remember every word anyway. Studying with others is good because you can discuss and debate your understandings of it and use other references to get a professional opinion if needed. You can read and study during the same time period. In our Sunday school classes, we've always picked a book to study and studied about a chapter/week. After a few years, you have studied most of the Bible in depth.
Reading the Bible takes about a year when read about 15-20 minutes/day.
