Putin’s decision to invade is in direct violation of the Budapest Memorandum, a key instrument assuring Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ukraine to bolster their defences against Russia.
Merkel said twelve months ago that Ukraine would not be permitted into NATO until they increased their fortifications

Hence both Minsk Agreements were simply a ruse to buy time for Ukraine...

Treaties and diplomatic agreements are not unilateral, when between two or more parties.

That NATO violated the Minsk Accords, in expanding NATO towards Russian borders and worked to solicit Ukraine; that the US government put covert biological-weapons labs within 100 km of the border, with programs to WEAPONIZE MOSQUITOES...that the Ukraine had in fact been taken over by NATO principals with a "Color Revolution"...meant Russia's safety and sovereignty were in question.

A very similar event in the past, was the Cuban Missile standoff. Kennedy was right, and so is Putin right.

Control of the region by the Azov neo-Nazis, was a very similar security threat.

But, these won't matter to many people. They start with a foregone conclusion: RUSSIA--> BAD! and manipulate and cherry-pick facts to work backwards from that.

In 2013, or thereabouts, Ukraine negotiated a free trade deal w/the EU, cutting out Russia. Russia turned around and outbid the EU - which included $15 billion in incentives for Ukraine and continued naval basing rights for Russia on the Crimea peninsula. Ukrainian President Yanukovich signed that deal. Hence, the protests.

In steps the U.S., spending billions influencing Ukraine politics, installing that nitwit puppet, Zelenskyy, in 2014. This irritated Putin no end, and rightfully so. Not that Yanukovch's gov't wasn't corrupt; it was highly so. Nevertheless, he was a duly elected president, and the U.S. meddled.

That's when Russia invaded Crimea. More like, 'took over,' as there was no warring about it. It, and all it's naval bases, had been Russia's since forever, and Putin; understandably, in my mind, wasn't about to give it up. Whoever controls the Black Sea naval bases, controls all the military, shipping, etc., in the area. The uprising on the Maiden square, along w/the installation of that new prezzy lead Putin to feel threatened, and he reacted.


What's great about this board is that a person can state all that, and not be accused of being a fan of Putin's. However, like Trump, I admire his intelligence.
