Re: Vanilla Cookies
right now i buy short bread cookies the way i like them at dollar tree. Called Global brands, imported by Glendale AZ but made in India. ????
They are awesone in my opinion. 6 cookies in package in a box of four packages 24 cookies for 1.25 plus tax..not TOO shabby.

With my chocolate Easter Bunny.
I want it, damn it.
....memories. Not that far from my home, as a kid...there was a local market and confectioner's, Sell's. They made their own chocolate molds...big Santa Clauses or Easter Bunnies...you could get one hollow, or solid. Imagine a five-pound, white-chocolate Easter Bunny.
These days, if you can buy something like that, it would be imported from Mexico. Or China.

Re: Vanilla Cookies
remember those big awful marshmallow orange colored peanuts? LOL
and the hard colored...pretty though stiff marshmallow insides. I wonder if they're even available now.
They were good then....not so much now.

I gotta say, @Calypso Jones, you amaze - and impress - me with all the baking you do. I wish I had the mountain of friends and family you do to share them with.Calypso Jones wrote:could they be tea cakes??

And those orange marshmallows! Gobbled 'em up as a kid, but not sure if it'd be the same today. Couldn't make out what those almond/jelly bean looking things in the pic were. ???
You brought up the Dollar Tree. I'm getting to like that place more and more these days.
Anyway, happy baking!

Those Marhmallow peanuts were great but they had to be fresh or they'd get rock hard if I can recall . I wasn't crazy about those eggs though .

Re: Vanilla Cookies
Nor I. they were pretty but that's about it. I have a store close by run by mennonites and they have ALL the old vintage candy. Bridge mix...remember that? tootsie rolls, jordan almonds, chocolate covered evrything. the striped peanut candys, all of it. The only thing I cannot find are the mary sue buttercreams. That's my fave rave.
