It's also called a Blood Moon.
If you're into Astrology it's a highly charged event and represents polarity between two opposing signs. One represents limiting our capacity for growth and the other represents what we need to cultivate in order to evolve and grow.
The midterms might be very exciting.

No they're not uncommon. There was one in May but you won't see another one until 2025.

I am glad some of you can see it not poor old me who was clouded out.
I am deep into visual astronomy have an 18" F 4.75 Telescope and a 9X63 Binoculars.
