Weight Relative to Criminalty

I have a relative who's son is in his 40s.
Of course his parents are rich and own(used to) a lot of land. Most of it was put under his name 20 years ago.

20 years ago he began his opioid addiction . It carries on and off to this day. He'd long be dead if it wasn't for Narcan. OD'ed several times already. He really ain't a bad feller when he's not going through your medicine cabinet or forging your checks.

I talked to him one time about it when he was clean. Told me he couldn't afford oxycontin at 50-60 dollars a pill on the drug market. Used 5 or 6 a day. It was a fraction of the cost to shoot straight heroin.
But now he got fentanyl.

They had to revoke the land ownership before the drug dealers ended up with the land.  

But he manages to plead guilty and plea bargain a deal with the DA every time.   Cause poppas money.
They house him in the local jail instead of sending him to Angola. State prison.

He used to be fat most of his life. As of 2 weeks ago he was still in the local jail roster. I loaded the site.

About 4 days ago , I thought I saw him in his parents yard which is about a mile away. But I wasn't sure. This fellow was very trim.
Well, I just looked again . And he's out!

And they say prison food is bad for you!

Christ, I so want those moments in my life when I read that crap back.

Addiction is tough to break . I'm not in the group that believes in intervention and any other outside help to solve the problem - I think its just an out for the addicts to make people around them feel good that they're getting " treatment".
Its up to the addict to stop cold turkey and if they don't then the inevitable happens . There's no sense in sugar coating it and we are afraid to face it and admit it . I've heard of a few famouse addicts that claim they beat it but even they fail and eventually succumb .
The answer is to fear it and never try it the first time , its a crutch for pain or a quick thrill so bite the bullet if you break a bone and find a good bottle of wine and a better relationship with significant other for a thrill to make it through life .

Addiction tends to be a cyclic thing for most people that are afflicted with it, It can be triggered by a lot of things in your life, most accept that and just get on with business, I do anyway,
