That's going to be a big problem in the future.  Friends and family dropping in and wanting to charge their cars.  That's going to get very old very fast.
Not if you can't provide it for them. Twisted Evil But, for the stupid people who can... LOL.

If its a 220 volt, just run an extension lead from the garage , I wouldn't have thought they would charge off line voltage , Be a DC charger ?

It's very cheap to charge an e-car.
Still, a bit of an impost.

It requires a 50A circuit and extension cords are not allowed. My parents have the old style outlets and they would need to be upgraded anyway.

Never thought of that, but that would be right. Can't put 50A through an extension lead.
Can they be charged at a slower rate through an extn lead?
A few people I know have Ecars, they love them. There are lots on the roads here now.
They are not on my shopping list.

they make #8 stranded cu so cord. ive even seen 2/0 stranded cu so cord. so no, the cord info is dead wrong. ev vehicles have many different male cord caps depending on the recharging time needed for that type a battery. they have locktype cordcaps that go from 120v 15a all the way to 277/480v 90a.

I'm not saying a cord won't work. Ford says no extension cords and my uncle doesn't know any better. My parents still have the 3 prong outlets and I don't think the circuits are 50A capable.
