A Rant about Health Care
Specifically, mine. But feel free to add your own experiences, if you like.
Some time back, I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Basically speaking, 5 lowest discs in my back are collapsing down on each other, cutting off and/or pinching nerves, and that is causing pain all over my body; mostly my back, backside, and legs. Some discs are bulging, and I also have arthritis in my hips. I got MAJOR improvement from the pain center I was sent to, where they inserted steroids into my spinal cord. That was on June 15th.
Then it's wait for the pain center to get ahold of the ins. co., then call me back w/my next appt.
On July 20th, I got a 2nd set of shots; 2 on each side of my spine. These were all test shots to discern just which nerves were getting cut off and causing the pain. Then they could proceed to the final shots that would hopefully keep me out of pain for an entire year, if I were lucky.
Problem. They won't call me back!!!
At my last appt., I told the receptionist that it was imperative that I get my next set of shots prior to Sept. 7th, as I'm flying to Ct. She circled a number, and told me that, if I started to get nervous, call that number to remind her, and she'd see to it that I got in.
Well! I started to get nervous a week ago Wed. Left a message. A week later, I left another message. On Friday, I left yet another message, TO PLEASE CALL ME!
The sob's WON'T CALL. They're an hour and half away, or I'd drive over to learn just what the problem is. I even told them if it's the insurance co. holding them up, don't. I'll PAY FOR IT.
Day, after day, after day,. after day.... Wait, wait wait.
WHAT THE HECK IS IT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DON'T RETURN PHONE CALLS????!

Informative post, 2cent. If you care to answer, I'm wondering how did it develop in your case? Thanks.

Kind of you to ask. I'm not quite sure. Likely a combo of breaking my tailbone around 15 years ago, and cheerleading for 7 years - daily - on several squads at the same time, at an even yet younger age. (Could not go professional; too short. Drat, but no, I did not sue. lol)Lummy wrote:Informative post, 2cent. If you care to answer, I'm wondering how did it develop in your case? Thanks.

Re: A Rant about Health Care
I've notice the "medical Ads" by the "experts" are advocating for drugs to help with the side affects of other drugs. So, a person takes one drug, the drug company makes money so the person has to take other drugs to help with the side affects of the drugs they were taking in the first place. The result is that several drugs are needed for what was supposed to be ONE condition. In the mean time, big pharma makes lots of money at people's expense and sooner or later the person either dies or ends up taking other drugs. It's no wonder that we have a drug problem in this country...
Re: A Rant about Health Care
no one treats the origin...they treat the symptoms...that insures that you continue taking the prophylaxis for the symptom. Never a cure. Never real relief.

Re: A Rant about Health Care
Health care for me a a big topic.
Many of the sentiments above I agree with.
The best health care you can do is that you do yourself.
Health care is not about relying on others to fix what you damaged.
Health care is about you caring for your own health.
It's about listening to your body.

Okay, I'll bite. I'm sure that many are thinking the same thing...
On one hand you claim "The best health care you can do is that you do yourself." yet, you have been a strong and vocal supporter of the "Vaccine" for the WuFlu. You also state, "Health care is not about relying on others to fix what you damaged." Seems very hypocritical...

Thanks, girl. I'm kinda embarrassed for going on the way I did. Frustration talking.Red Lily wrote:Good luck with it all 2. Fingers and toes crossed for you and keep us posted.
This morning I hopped up and gave myself an MRI on the machine in my weight room. However, I'm waiting for CAT Scan machines to go on sale for that test. In the meantime, I'm taking classes on how to insert needles into my spine while viewing it through the x-ray machine that my buddy, Tom, offered to lend to me.
Next up is giving myself an eye exam.
