Its not looking good for the Reps in the midterms
If Republicans win the special election in New York-19 (Biden seat) tonight, we can officially be assured that the midterms do look good for Republicans. That's the kind of district that would have a large concentration of pro-choice Republicans. If there's a place Democrats would hold down Republicans, it's there.

Yes, the East and West coasts are filled with Democrats however, we can't forget the Chinese contribution as well...

A close friend of my husband's who keeps his finger on the pulse of politicians stated his worries, too. He said that the Roe vs. Wade being reversed is going to backfire on the Republicans. I was take aback. I didn't see how, seeing as Congress has no say on the issue.

Boy, did I stand to be corrected. Kansas recently voted on an abortion ballot issue - a state amendment to their constitution to further restrict or ban abortion. It resoundingly failed.
That surprised me, seeing as the last time we traveled a 1/3rd portion of the state all we saw were, "Value Them Both," signs in near every yard. Besides it's such a Red state.

From an article I read:
In the first ballot test of abortion rights in a post-Roe America, Kansas voters turned out in historic numbers to overwhelmingly reject a constitutional amendment that would have opened the door for state lawmakers to further restrict or ban abortions across the state.

Read more at: https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/election/article263832087.html#storylink=cpy

It also stated that the amendment issue proved to be a major driving force for primary voters to get to the polls.

The irony? One message of the pro-abortion crowd was to warn about government control over private health care decisions.

Make ya gag much?

Nevertheless, the sad, sorry bottom line is that a win for Republicans may very well turn out to be a major lose.

NY-19 looks like bad for the GOP. Democrat leading by a little over 3,000 votes. Democrats will probably keep that district in November.

I'm not convinced about Kansas. The wording of that referendum was crap.

Makes me a tad nervous.

You do make a point.  Some people involved on the pro-life side did express their disappointment in the people running that campaign for their weak messaging.  Wyoming primary today....Cheney vs Hageman - Page 7 553500953

Decision Desk called it for Ryan over Molinaro. Overall, Florida looked good for Republicans, the New York races look bad. The weakness in New York could translate to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin if they're not careful.

If they fail to win the House and Senate then I will agree, they should go with DeSantis. I wouldn't get this takeaway from this race though because Trump didn't really endorse Molinaro. He was Kevin McCarthy's guy. I see that Republicans propped up Molinaro as a good candidate because he didn't talk about election fraud. There's nothing on this guy's site about immigration, critical race theory, or abortion however. That might be why rural voters didn't turn out for him. I didn't know this because I only learned about the New York 19th district race about 48 hours ago.

In Arizona, we elected firebrands up and down the ticket and had high turnout for out primaries.
