Re: Salman Rushdie Stabbed at New York Event
You're right, @HawkTheSlayer, I don't. Not in the least. NOTHING in my profile shows me 'watching' or 'following' anyone or any thing. Here's a C&P of my profile:HawkTheSlayer wrote:You dont understand.2cent wrote:Huh? Going to my profile showed nothing. Nothing there that said anything about 'following' or 'watching'. I simply clicked on "Stop watching this topic," that was in the bottom right hand corner of a post within the thread like Red said, and that did the trick.HawkTheSlayer wrote:Red Lily wrote:HawkTheSlayer wrote:
For some time now, there has been a "follow" feature. Just go to your or the others profile and opt out .
You prolly hit it by mistake.
@2cent you may have accidentally 'watched' the topic but more likely it was a glitch and the forum did it for you. It does it to me occasionally.
It seems unlikely that you'd accidentally follow 2 posters so just click "stop watching this topic" on the bottom right under the last post.
It doesn't have anything to do with watching (which is auto) or opting out of a topic.
You dont won't to opt out of any topics you like or find interesting.
Just go to your profile and unfollow any posters you don't want to follow.
If you didn't choose the follow option when it asked, just unfollow them!
It could have been a glitch thing, like Red Said.
If you post mobile like me, in the sticks, it sometimes takes longer for a post to go through, than what it shows.
In other words, it shows my post went through, but it might be 30 seconds or more before it goes through..
Especially in music threads or multi-media threads.

Outside of that, all there is, are the avatars of my "friends." Zero, zip, zilch, nada re: 'watching' or 'following'.
BEFORE I did what Red suggested there was a 'stop watching this thread' choice at the bottom, righthand side of everyone's posts. I clicked on it, and the message disappeared. However, I'm still getting notified each and every time someone posts in this thread.
FWiw, I use a laptop.
I'll just not worry it. The thread'll run it's course, and the noti's will quit. Prob solved.

For example; I just got 7 notices; 4 saying that Hawk has posted in this thread, and 3 saying CJ has.
For some time now, there has been a "follow" feature. Just go to your or the others profile and opt out .

Watching a topic is only auto IF you have posted in it already, which she hadn't. The only post from 2 in this topic was the one that started this discussion so she should not have received any notifications IF she doesn't have you on follow unless the topic was watched for her by way of glitch or accidental clicking.
In order for me to follow someone I have to go into their profile and click 'follow'
I have no clue what delayed posts have to do with anything but I'm not going to argue about it.
It's user error by mistake. You do not have to go into their profile to follow!
I just got a follow pop up box on my last post! And many posts from regular posters. All you have to do is hit their profile on purpose or by accident.
On the upper right screen . It's no ones fault. It's just an option to connect.
That may be a feature on a tablet but not on a computer. I don't get any popups either. I don't know if 2 uses a tablet.
I'd be pissed off if boxes popped up asking me to follow someone and I'd stop it. I get more than enough notifications as it is.
It's a feature offered by Forumotion everywhere on all devices.
You could check admin panel .
I know that its an offered feature, Hawk, I'm just saying that you need to actually subscribe to their (the poster's) content in order to activate it. If you don't 'follow' them you aren't (or shouldn't be) notified.

You may have posted again after turning off the watch thingy which will trigger the auto watch again. Just click it again.
Under the box where you make a post there's also an option "notify me when a reply is posted" so uncheck that too.
