...except...isn't it a Christian tenet to accept negative events as God's Plan?
The rise of Hitler to German Chancellor (head of the Executive Branch, but not Head of State) was fraught with similar missteps. The President (Head of State) of Wiemar Germany was Paul von Hindenburg, who was old, ailing, not exactly senile but weak and close to death. Apparently the Chancellor was either elected by the Reichsrat membership, or the Chancellor-elect had to be approved. Von Hindenburg was head of the majority party and his assent was in fact, if not in law, needed.
Problem: Hindenburg DESPISED Hitler; had watched him for twenty years. Knew Hitler's war history, ending with his incarceration in a mental hospital.
But Hindenburg, weakened, despairing, finally gave assent to Hitler's installation as the new Chancellor.
Fate. Does that not sound similar to what we've been through? Weak, or confused, or frightened men; and emboldened violent radicals pushing for installation of a malleable clown who'll do the mob's wishes.
All leading to unimaginable disaster.
Perhaps it's the plan.
