Riding an 86 foot wave!
A German surfer broke the Guinness World Record for riding the largest wave -- an 86-foot monster off the coast of Portugal.
Guinness World Records announced Tuesday that Sebastian Steudtner, 36, broke the world record when he rode the 86-foot wave off the coast of Praia do Norte, Nazare, in October 2020.

Same here. I like the water to cool off and get wet but that's about the extent of my love of the surf.

We here spent many a weekend having a blast skiing and knee boarding. But we live on lakes, not the ocean. In my youth I lived in CT, but the Atlantic, I guess isn't much for surfing. Live in California for a year, but surfing never came up, drat it.Red Lily wrote:Same here. I like the water to cool off and get wet but that's about the extent of my love of the surf.

I like lakes and rivers and have spent many a weekend skiing, sailboarding and waverunning there but I prefer to stay waist deep in the ocean because I don't particularly like sharks!

You DO make a good point when it comes to sharks. I love rivers, too. Used to go canoeing w/this guy - both lake, and white water. SO much fun!Red Lily wrote:2cent wrote:We here spent many a weekend having a blast skiing and knee boarding. But we live on lakes, not the ocean. Sounds like we'd have had much fun on the water.

It's just like surfing on a wake board behind a motorboat. Just bigger.
