1916 - ship ship - interpretation - for the remaining 19 men left on Elephant Island. for the real story, Frank Worsley was the navigator who was soley responsable for the rescue. he went on to other feats of glory, returned to south georgia, at the exact time Shackletons body was sent back to be burried there per his wifes instructions.

121 CE
Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor, writer and philosopher was born. The times of this rule (161-180 CE) fell into a very difficult period: constant wars and natural disasters (Tiber’s outflow, hunger, street riots, fires, locust, plague). The main enemies of Rome were the Germanic tribes and the Parthians. Marcus Aurelius lived a modest, peaceful life, in consonance with strict stoic principles. He had a deep sense of duty to serve the country and its citizens. He took care of good relations with the Senate, carried out reforms in the field of administration and civil law.
1478

1933
The Gestapo, the official secret police force of Nazi Germany, is established.
1945
World War II: Battle of Bautzen – last successful German tank-offensive of the war and last noteworthy victory of the Wehrmacht.
