had jerry been able to disrupt just a wee little bit more, the 88's wouldve had enough time to entrench with a 170mm battery behind it, thus cutting off Pattons coastal supply line

After all, I think leadership put up with a lot more from each other in the interest of the war effort back then. It's hard to believe that his peers would have wanted him dead, that's for sure.

I don't believe Ike was particularly well known for his civilian political acumen, but that might be wrong.

What I know of Patton is from the movie with Geo C Scott.
ive read maybe five books about him. Abrams loved him. Ike was a communist, plain and simple. he pulled back from the Elbe, he gave up all his CIA assetts in Hungary, then he allows Uncle Ho to set up shop by wiping out 330,000 of his immediate supporters. i wish LeMay had taken over everything after George got killed.

On the other hand, it could be that Ike was trying to temper and tamp down another revolution, the first having claimed many millions of lives, not including China, which hadn't yet lost its shit -- not for another 12-15 years.

I've always thought Ike was liberal, okay, socialist possibly in a rudamentary way, but a commie philosopher? I don't think he was given to that kind of off-the-rails intellectual mayhem, if he was ever that sophisticated. He might have been. It would be error to put words in his mouth, for sure.
