Ive always objected to horses carrying big weights over a distance.
The weight scales have gradually changed over the years due to
jockeys moaning about having to spend too much time in the sauna
etc to make a light weight...
With only a tiny amount of races over a distance in Australia, I cant
really see staying races being around for much longer in Oz, due to
the looney left continually protesting...
Even the whip rules have been changed amidst continual protests...
The entire racing industry in Oz relies on sprint racing over a shorter
distance for the owners and breeders to make a quick buck.....
Jumps racing in Oz is pretty much finished...distance racing will be
next...
Anyway..thats my rant for the day....
Good luck if youre having a bet...
I picked Twilight Payment in the Cup last year and it won...
BUT I did change my mind because it was an 8yo and 8yo
nags dont win Melbourne Cups.....and it was a leader...
Leaders dont win....so I thought...
I finished up backing Tiger Moth...it ran 2nd..
Therefore after picking Floating Artist...I decided not to
change my mind...
Cheers....good luck....

I don't much like long distance races period but I particularly don't like them being burdened with huge weights.

I remember watching Australian champion steeplechaser Crisp
lead the Grand National Steeplechase in the UK many years
ago by a hundred metres into the straight only
to be run down by Red Rum...1973...
Crisp carried 12 stone Red Rum carried 10 stone 5 pound...
This is bloody cruel and began my hatred of big weights
over long distances...
12 stone is the equivalent to 76.2kg...
Bloody cruel...
30 fences over 4 miles and 2.5 furlongs....
British sport...its not sport...its bloody cruelty....
Watch the poor bloody horses falling everywhere...
Red Rum "1973" Grand National - Bing video
Watch Crisp all over the place in the straight under the
huge weight....
Bloody cruel...

I agree it's beyond cruel and I can't watch or it will give me nightmares. Sad

The Brits are bloodthirsty with regard to sport. When I first found out that fox hunting involved sending the dogs into fox holes to tear the poor things apart I was almost sick. What sort of 'sport' is that?

@holes!
