ok. i will bite....1. WHAT is your name? 2. WHAT is your quest...3. WHAT is the capital of assyria?Sprintcyclist wrote:Thanks Billy.
I have spoken to many people about retiring.
Good comments have been 'You want at least 3 interests. In case one stops."
"There are a lot of hours to fill in in a day. Then you have the next day .'
"there are only so many games of golf you can play.'
Some people do not plan it, then dislike their retirement
A volunteer position would help. I do yoga and can restart Bridge.
Need 2 more 'things'.
My 4 day weeks are good.

1. WHAT is your name? Jebe the 2nd. Or Andrew
2. WHAT is your quest... To understand Jebe as spoken traditionally
Though, caring for the local flora and fauna is good also
3. WHAT is the capital of assyria?
Easy one - Jebeistan.
Some fools say Nineveh is ........

Yes, it takes a long time. A bridge session is 3 hours so is more suited to retired people.
I played it for about 8 years and am having a break from it now.
Took up Yoga again. Nicer in a way than bridge as my Wife and I can do it together.

Re: Retirement
I had it forced on me. The back, hips, knees, leg, and pancreas all gave out. I couldn't pass an annual physical for locomotive enginemen.
I hadn't planned to be idle. I had planned to work part-time...well, my first year out, I wanted to ride a motorcycle to Alaska. That didn't work - Canada, where I've been hundreds of times, has reclassified me as a State Criminal.
Then I compromised, and rode East, to where I'm from. Or close to it, in New York's Adirondack Park.
I got cellulitis from my riding boot. That had me on a trip to a small-town hospital. And antibiotics.
So...I was gonna tour Mexico that winter. By dirt bike (I used to have several motorcycles) and I'd pass on the riding boots. But I wanted to see if Mexico was a good place to retire on for not much money.
First came a November-December period of floods, which, thank all gods, I was far from. Then came...COVID.
Everything was on hold. I actually considered going down there, since HCQ is sold over-the-counter in Mexico. I had contacts from Adventure Rider - Mexican riders of substance, who have toured the States, and have helped Americans going down there. But then he told me that the HCQ supply was cut off.
Imagine that!
Now I'm older; I've sold off all but one of my cycles, and I still don't want to work, now for different reasons. I can control the virus; but if I catch it, I have to STAY OUT of the hospital. A hospital stay is now death - ventilator and Remdesivir, which the CDC Protocol DEMANDS.
That's why no Ivermectin - it's not in the CDC Protocols, which, thanks to the ACA law, are written in stone. Those are killing patients, and about the only way to get around it, is to have a private doc see you at home.
WITHOUT insurance.
So, no, I won't be with people. This is making retirement, sucky.
