One would hope.
The reality is, my mother died at 78; and my father at 75. BOTH had heroic medical intervention...my mother, several cancer surgeries and treatment; my father, two years of post-stroke care and a nursing home.
The honest estimate I give myself is, nine years. I could be wrong, of course...but the body is showing wear and failures.
I've decided I will NOT go into a nursing home. I have no family left, and I do not want to be at the mercy of a bunch of snowflakes who have zero respect or concern for anybody else. I'll suck exhaust, or take a bottle full of pills, or blow my brains out before I'll do that... I've seen enough videos the past few years of little assholes like antifa that pick elderly people that can't fight back to beat up and/or rob. Those are the kind of people they'll be using in nursing homes because they'll be too ignorant to handle any other kind of job.

I promise you, gaslighting is far from my thing. I'll have nothing of it.Casey Jones wrote:I have taken most of it. Inadvertantly...but it happened so.
I don't like gaslighting. I don't like someone pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining. It's why I've been slowly retreating...from my full-in blogger-postings over at CHCH, trying to create a media personality...on to where I just stopped watching or reading pretty-much everything.
It's ALL A LIE. I have no time for lies.
Life is short and I'm approaching the exit ramp. What little I can do, now, won't much matter. What I can do to limit the internal dissonance, limit the gaslighting, the deceit...those matter A LOT.
Yes, most of all of it is a lie. As Neil Boortz was fond of saying, "Believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear." (Openly including himself in that observation.)
,
Where I fall short is near always having some kind of stimuli. If I'm not listening to music, it's talk radio; if not that, a book, or the t.v.; and if not any of that, I'm here. Some 'noise' near all of the time. My only quiet time is out in the garden, or on the front patio, and heat and bugs have run me off of both.
I need to get back in the habit of quiet time. Do a little reflecting, make a habit of meditating.

Good decision. You won't find me in one, either. I had a S-in-L LOL, when I stated as much, w/a "You may not have a choice," comeback.Elizabeth Theus wrote:Casey Jones wrote:Calypso Jones wrote:Casey...you'll probably live 25 more years.

Says I: "There are living wills, and all kinds of alternatives to those wretched homes, and something tells me I won't be welcome at The Manor." (Mennonite nursing home. A shame all aren't run like that one.)

In NZ they keep you in your own home for as long as possible , they provide home help that come and shower you if you need it, the cook meals for you and do house work, My X's mother did spend a few weeks in a hospice before her death but she was pretty far gone by that point and had given up, I was there one time when in a lucid moment I heard her say to Sarah, " Im dying arent I"" What do you say, she was gone a few days after that
