As her political career unfurled on the national scene in 2008, Sarah Palin, then the governor of Alaska and Republican nominee for vice president, frequently criticized what she called the "lamestream media," saying it was unfair to her and took pains to cast her in the worst possible light.

Starting Monday in Manhattan, Palin will get her day in court against one of the most august titles in American journalism: The New York Times. The case pits First Amendment protections for robust free speech against the right of someone not to be defamed, i.e. not to have damaging and untrue claims made publicly against her, even if she's a prominent public figure. It is also likely to shine an unwanted light into the behavior of the nation's leading newspaper when it's under deadline pressure.

For some reason, this reminds me of when Carol Burnett sued The Nat'l Enquirer for a $1.00.  (This is from back in the day when the Enquirer was coming out with one outrageous claim after the other.)  Whether she won or not is neither here nor there; she made her point.

I kinda hope Sarah Palin gets to make hers. "Kinda", 'cuz it's not like she didn't bring a good deal of the attention on herself.  But, ITST, the NYT really was over-the-top relentless.

She got treated the way Trump got treated, totally 100% UNFAIR.

She deserves this win for herself (fingers crossed) and the country also need fake news knocked down a few pegs too.

Oops; just now read the link. My fault that I didn't realize this was about the NYT blaming Palin for the shootings of Gabby Giffords and Rep. Scalise.

In which case - I hope the jury shows the NYT, and Bennett, specifically, how to EAT DIRT!
