Frankly, I think they suffer from arrested development.  As the article states:
An adult brain differs from an adolescent brain in many ways. Between childhood and adulthood, the brain loses gray matter as excess neurons and synapses are pruned away. The rate of loss slows down by a person’s late 20s. At the same time, some brain regions strengthen their connections with each other, and the major nerve tracts become wrapped in insulating myelin, which increases the brain’s white matter. White matter volume peaks around age 40.
For whatever reason, people on the Left refuse to "grow up," and that, in all sincerity, may literally impede the ability of their brains to grow.

We use terms like "short-sighted," a little too liberally, maybe.

I believe this to be true. If you notice Democrats tend to act like petulant little children when they don't get their way, throwing little hissy fits and breaking their favorite toys. Democrats, like little children, don't recognize boundaries or the reasons why some rules are quite necessary for an orderly society and don't understand why "Let's Pretend" just doesn't work for adults.

Remember when we were kids, and couldn't wait to 'grow up?'  Sure, we were under the misguided notion that it brought more freedom, because it meant more control over our own lives.
But we eventually did grow up, and with it, the realization that, with adulthood, comes responsibility.

Yeah, the big ol' tough word that forces you to grow up, or get left behind, floundering, not getting anywhere; no stability to your life.

What I don't understand is how come they don't care?

A couple of studies including a recent one in Finland(?) concludes that liberalism (leftism) is the result of moral immaturity.

Don't hate the science.

I think the difference between liberal and conservative thinking is that liberals trust the government more than themselves and conservatives trust themselves more than the government. There are benevolent and greedy examples of both viewpoints, but liberalism leads to tyranny eventually.

When you take enough from a person that has worked hard for it and give it to someone that hasnt, you will hit a tipping point

That's where voter fraud comes in. Evil or Very Mad  Everything Dems do tips the scale towards voter fraud or at least favoring Democrats.  Illegal immigration, mail in voting, illegal voting law changes, voting machine software errors, accepting unverified and late ballots, ............

They keep casting a larger welfare net , let impoverished immigrants into the country to build up their voter base. tie that in with a little voter fraud and you are likely to get re-elected
