Concerning My pup Belle

Some years ago, we had a Toy Fox Terrier that had Diabetes. The first thing out of people's mouth when they found out was "when are you going to have him put to sleep?" They went on to tell us how expensive the medication and food was, etc. I nonchalantly told them that if another member of my family came down with Diabetes I would NOT have them "put to sleep", so why would we do it to the dog? After all, he couldn't help it and certainly didn't ask to have Diabetes!

I know that the legal definition of a pet is "chattel" but, OUR definition is "FAMILY MEMBER"!

Well....the end came this evening...about 915pm.   She had a seizure...a serious one with me.... it took her a long time to recover and when she did recover she was confused, anxious,  walking in circles, weak in her hind end and my daughter decided she couldn't leave her like that...so...we went about 30 miles to emergency vet..     She was a good girl...13 years old.  And she will be greatly missed.

We brought her home and she is down in the side yard near a tree. She made the rounds every morning until she started having the seizures.

That sounds how my Rowdy died.  He died a week and a half after his first seizure at 9 1/2.  He was still catching rabbits after 9. My brother has a boxer that looks just like him.  They are fun dogs. Sorry for your loss.

It's been years since Rio passed away, and I STILL haven't gotten over it. You must be having a terrible time, so sorry for your loss...

So sorry for your losses! We had a boxer, 8 yrs old and had to say goodbye and it was the hardest thing I've ever done.

Just a separate  gated community where they run free with their humans.

There is a great Twight Zone episode where a man and his dog are going to heaven at the same time.
He meets up on the road with the devil first,  who pretends to be god.

The devil tries to trick the man into Hell but he must leave the dog behind. The man refuses.

As he walks further down the road , he meets the real heaven greeter who explains to him that that the previous encounter was really the devil. They both enter heaven.

God welcomes animals , too.
